Description:
black coffee nutrition facts:
2 calories in a cup of Black Coffee, brewed from grounds, prepared with tap water
Not sure if you are interested, but I've found that knowing what I was drinking in my morning beverage, has (mostly) kept me from making bad choices.
Even if you don't drink Starbuck's Coffees specifically, their online nutrition info can be appropriated to get an idea of how many Calories/grams of fat are in the coffee drinks you get from your local coffee shop.
Be sure to note your milk preference and whip cream options! :D

It's pretty ghastly. My friend and took a look just to see what it was we were ingesting when we brought back our frapps to the office some time last year. It pretty much caused us to toss it right then and there. We didn't at the time get the "light" version. We haven't had one since.
Then we started poking around and added the calories that we see people carrying around. I've always been pretty amazing to me that someone could drink a frappaccino first thing in the morning. But to pair that with a muffin or a scone???! So we calculated that people were eating upwards of 800 - 1000 calories for breakfast, if that was their choice of bev and pastry.
I'll stick to my daily coffee w/ 1% or non-fat milk or my non-fat cafe au lait ("misto" at Starbucks). They're cheaper too, should I not have the time to make my own in the morning.

I know! When I was a barista, there was this one customer that would get a Breve Latte every morning. A medium has 47 grams of fat, 550 Calories! Who can drink that much half & half, anyway? Must be an acquired taste.
Makes my heart hurt a little.
I'm trying to give up my favorite beverage, the evil iced white mocha... so delicious, but since knowing how decadent they are, I've switched to iced tea. Is going pretty well!

I love that Starbucks puts their info online. I've switched to a tall nonfat 1 splenda latte and find I'm not missing my venti nonfat with whip caramel macchiato at all.

Neat!

If you're not anti-chemical, Starbucks has 2 sugar-free, zero-calorie flavored syrups too. One is vanilla; I'm not sure what the other is. But, so, you can get a sugar-free skim vanilla latte for the same calories as a plain skim latte. Tastes like a treat! But, since it's essentially a cup of skim milk, it's still around 100 calories for a "tall."

i can't figure out how they've calculated a venti latte w/ soy milk to have the amount of sodium, sugar and protein that they claim. i looked up vanilla silk soy milk and the nutrition label they show does not correspond with the numbers on the starbuck's site...

To the original poster -- thanks for sharing...
Also, to the poster who mentioned the low cal vanilla skim version of a latte -- thanks for the tip, I've gotta try that! :)

4:11 poster - do you think the nutritional info is too high or two low - if it's higher that the vanilla soy milk, they may be using regular full-fat soy milk and vanilla flavor syrup rather than vanilla soy milk.

well, when i go to starbucks, i order a venti soy latte. they don't offer plain soy milk, only the Silk brand vanilla flavor. the protein, sodium, and sugar counts on the nutrition label at starbucks just don't mathmatically jive with the label for the vanilla Silk soy milk label. i watch while my drink is made to ensure that SOY milk is used, and never have i seen any type of syrup being added. i would get pretty mad if that happened because i try to watch my sugar intake.

OK - I don't generally go to Starbucks (prefer Caribou), so I don't know what they use, I was just trying to come up with something that made sense. They may not be using a serving of soy milk - you could ask them how much soy milk actually goes into your drink. Also, your Starbucks may be using a different brand or type of soymilk from what was used to calculate the nutritional info on the website.

To the original poster, thanks for the great link! I used to be a super Starbucks addict. (I used to wonder if I could switch my direct deposit pay check from the bank straight to Starbucks.) I don't get Starbucks nearly so often anymore (finally figured out it was cheaper to buy myself a nifty coffee maker and install it in my office rather than running out to Starbucks mid-afternoon when my energy flagged), but nonetheless appreciated the link to the information.
