They are an excellent food for weight loss as well as lowering cholesterol. Apples contain pectin, which requires the body to use bile in the process of digesting the pectin in the apple.

The body then needs to make new bile- which it does from cholesterol! Pears function in much the same way.

For weight loss, the old adage "an apple a day" will help keep the doctor away.
