1st - 50
2nd - 60
3rd - 60

And it got harder to lose the weight with each one. I'm really working HARD now to get back to pre-pregnancy, pre-marriage, pre-engagement weight.

pregnancy gain?

I was extremely careful. I was not going to go over the 25 I was allowed. I actually gained 27 pounds, 6 were in the last month. After 3 weeks I was at my pre-pregnancy weight.

My sister, my cousin and I both gained 92 pounds exactly (at different times). It didn't matter what we did, either...unfortunately it just runs in the family. BUT, finally after 4 years, my cousin and I are both starting to lose the weight.

Wow, 92 pounds? I don't want to be mean but that is a huge amount of weight. I don't want to burst your bubble but do you really believe that it runs in the family? There is no proof that it does, in fact just the opposite. Doctors, nurses, people I know who have gained to much weight while pregnant all say that it was from over eating and unhealthy eating. I knew a girl who gained 85 pounds while pregnant, just blew up like a balloon, all she ate was Jack in the Box, McD's, Taco Bell, and tons of sweets. If you eat healthy its impoosible to gain that much weight. After all you have to eat an extra 3500 calories above what you normally eat to sustain your weight to gain 1 pound. So lets be honest here, this doesn't run in your family, you just ate why too much and made bad choices.

Easy there, tiger.

Above poster raises some validity here. It does take consuming an abundance to gain that much weight, even in a pregnancy, where all bodies do react differently to being preggers. And I agree with being honest with yourself but maybe a the post could be a little more gentle with the delivery?

Gaining weight in your pregnancy is about choices and with the raging hormones ripping through your body, the body and the psyche is usually better off with more healthy selections with water rich foods and energy building calories.

Actually...

I ate mostly salads and fruit. Despite the pushing of my mother and law, I only ate for 1. I don't like sweet stuff, like candy, nor do I eat junk food. I avoid salt when possible, and I cooked my own meals. Before my pregnancy, during and to this day, if I eat at McDonalds or other fast food places, I get nauseated by the smell. I also exercised 5 times a week for 1/2 an hour a day until the day before I gave birth.

My sister on the other hand, ate junk food (I don't think she knows what a salad is) and never exercised. I can see why, in her case, she gained that much weight.

I have no explanation why we were taking care of ourselves in different ways, yet ended up with the same results, other than genetics. I asked my regular doctor (the one during my preganacy had no answers for me) and she had my thyroid tested, and although it was off, it was still within limit. She thought that it was probably a combination of that, and water retention.

Either way, I find your comment offensive. The fact that you would automatically assume that I did not take care of myself and compare me to someone like my sister who did pig out and who does to this day eat a sickening amount of junk food is repulsive.

Thanks for making up my mind about this website. I don't think I will find any friendly support here. Thanks to all of you who were at least polite!

This is really over the line and unlike any experience I have had on Peertrainer so far. We really need to be as supportive as possible.

You have to also think about the fact that you can gain quite a bit of weight and not be over weight.

For example I used to weigh 115 (slightly under the normal range of 117 for me). When I got pregnant, I gained 40 pounds, which is still within my weight range. I was not considered overweight until I started getting above 40 (155+ lbs). Even then, I was "just overweight", and had not reached "obese" yet.

I don't know about y'all, but 40 lbs is alot to me!!!

Forgive me for offending anyone, that wasn't my intention. I thought this site was for support but also so people can comment and make other people think about things, I thought it was for holding other people and ourselves accountable for our own choices and downfalls. I myself have lost 50 pounds and still am working on the last 30. I could blame a miserable marriage that I finally left, the type of people I was hanging out with, the environment I was in, and countless other things but what it comes down to and what I had to face was that I did it to myself. Once I admitted that my life started changing for the better. Within the 1st year of leaving my ex husband I lost 50 pounds, I felt free and happy and that was how I did it. I think people need to start taking responsiblity for themselves and stop blaming others or the world for things they have the power to control. I know that once I get to my goal I will never allow myself to lose control again. So my point was that even during pregnancy, unless you overeat its almost impossible to gain that sort of weight. I think women in general think that being pregnant is a license to eat whatever and however much they want to eat. Its a fact that if you eat healthy and exercise not many gain more then 30-35 pounds most even less and usually after 3-4 weeks after giving birth they are back at their pre-pregnancy weight. I myself gained 26 pounds while pregnant and I was extremely careful of what I ate and walked every night. 2 weeks after giving birth I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
You should try to be less sensitive, it was only one comment and its silly to think that you wouldn't get any good support here. There are a lot of people more then willing to give you the support your looking for. I just thought if one was honest and didn't play around with sugar coating their thoughts it might make another take a second look and question themselves and actually hold themselves accountable.
Sorry I offended anyone. And to the original poster of this thread, you should be proud of your success and I hope it continues.

Pregnancy weight

I gained about 40 lbs. with pregnancy and was already overweight. It took me five years to take all the weight off! Something that is hard for me to figure out too is that some people have morning sickness (and we all know this is not limited to the morning) and they still gain weight. I was nauseaus with acid reflux and didn't want to eat and I still gained weight.

To the poster who gained 90 lbs... there are some GREAT people on this website. Don't give up on us! I'm in three groups right now and have gone through a few others to find the right people for my needs. Stick with it. You'll do great! :)

Baby weight

1st time 40 lbs - eating anything, everything and little exercise

Baby was only 5.12 -- lost 20 within 1st two weeks, went to Weight Watchers when she was 2 yrs old and lost another 30 lbs

2nd time gained 40 lbs -- eating Weight Watcher's for breasting feeding women and exercising 3 or 4X a week, baby was 6.12 -- lost all 40 lbs by the time she was 5 mos doing WWers

In the last 5 years I got lazy, happy and a man who loves to cook so I have no babies and 30 lbs to lose.

Ugh dreaded weight gain..

Let's see. I gained 30 lbs with my daughter (who just turned 2) and then got prego right away with #2 (just turned 1) and gained another 20 lbs. :( I had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies.. my babies were both born on the large side of the scale .. daughter was 9 lbs. 4 oz. and son was 8 lbs. 13 oz. .. both were early too.

The "pouch" is my problem.

Baby weight should be called super glue:o)

1st baby I only gained a whopping 40lbs (for a 16 yr old who only weighed 100lbs to start with I was devistated)
2nd baby I gained another whopping 55lbs (lost almost all of this weight and then wound up preggers agian)
3rd baby I gained a slightly smaller amount of 33lbs (with this pregnancy I walked on the treadmill and tried to limit my sweets. I also stopped using my pregnancy as excuse to "eat for two")

I am now 25 yrs old and my youngest son is 18 mos old. I weigh 130lbs and would like to lose 15 more. It has been a long hard road but I know I am not alone and together we can make it!

I also have a "pouch" problem:o)

i agree with the person who apparently offended people. I believe that people should not lie to themselves or sugar coat it. Maybe more people would try harder if they stop making exceptions and less of us would be unhealthy. It is hard to swallow that she gained 93 pounds from eating salads and fruit during pregnancy. Thats why i am commenting on this and i am sorry for offending anybody by this but i am just saying is when somebody said that i was unhealthy looking i did something about it. So i lost 50 pounds and became a personal trainer of my own gym.

I gained 33 with both my kids and lost 35. But not long after I started eating alot of junk food I was a stay home mom and didn't go to work until my daughter was 5 and started kindergarden. I was in a bad marriage for many years and once I finally had the courage to leave I lost 25 in my first year. I would hide at home never go anywhere (only to work and back) cause I was ashamed on how I looked. Nothing fit me and wore shirts too big for me to hide the fat etc. I believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder and besides looks are only skin deep it's whats inside that counts.

We are all in this together not to judge anyone. Congrats to all those who have lost weight and to those who are going to. Take care.

middle age pregnancy

I gained 40-some odd pounds during my late 30's - then decided to have a baby. I managed to unhealthily drop 15 before getting pregnant. Excercised daily during and ate well but with lots of indulgences. I just stopped breast-feeding last month, and am wondering how on earth to change all the bad habits (binging, feeling bad about myself and eating etc) and face these twenty pounds that mean a lifestyle change. I'm reading your posts here and feeling like maybe I can do it. thanks

I'm a newlywed, trying to lose these 28 lbs. before we start trying to get pregnant. I have 16 more to go, and we are going to start trying in October of this year. I was wondering if anyone else had tried losing before getting pregnant, and if that helped you gain less? Or did you just gain those pounds back plus baby weight? Just curious.

I haven't been pregnant yet, but I am trying to lose weight first too. I have to imagine that, if you develop healthy eating habits in order to lose the weight, and you keep those healthy eating habits during pregnancy (but consult with your doctor about how many calories you'll need to add due to pregnancy), that you'll gain appropriately and be able to take it off afterwards.

If you have the idea in your head, though, that once you reach the goal weight, you're "done," then, you'll probably gain a ton.

I myself haven't been pregnant, but I'm watching my best friend go through it now and she is struggling to keep from gaining too much. A lot of people on this thread have mentioned that it's up to the choices you make whether or not you gain weight but the struggle my friend is having is she can't stomach anything but junk food. I'm not relaying this story aas an excuse, I just though it was pretty funny and maybe something those of you who've gained weight through pregnancy can empathize with. She's usually a health freak eating salads and fruits and veggies and other healthy options. But even the sight of an avocado or other healthy snacks sends her retching into the bathroom now. She's been really frustrated by it as this is her 1st pregnancy and she was planning on being one of those super mom's who eats fantastically and exercises and gives their baby the best jump start but sometimes your body just doesn't want to cooperate.

I was about 145 pounds, 5'8" in the best shape of my life & then I got pregnant. I am a former college athlete & I knew what it took for my body to stay in shape. I ate fairly healthy (occasional fast food), but overall I continued to workout and try to eat healthy food choices. However, I gained 65-70 pounds!!! I was so depressed & am still fighting to lose the weight. I've lost 40 so far (son was born 3 1/2 months ago) & have a ways to go. My son was 3 weeks late & 9lbs. 4oz. but it was so hard for me to see myself get so big. I'm still having a hard time dealing with the weight gain, but I'm eating healthier then I've ever ate and working out 6 days a week, so hopefully with time & dedication this weight will finally come off. Good luck to all of you!

Both pregnancies I ate very healthfully, carefully following the diet plan outlined in the book "What to Eat When You're Expecting."

I lost 15lbs the first trimester, and then gained 10 back

I burned my body fat through. But after she was born, nursing made me ravenous and by 6 mos post partum, I had nearly achieved my highest pregnancy wt and I wasn'tt prenant.

Same thing happened with second child. I get very nauseous while pregnant and even after the worst of it passed, I was not really liking food much, so I ate alot of fruit and drank tons of soup.

Don't worry,

My wife (5'5" 110lbs) gained 55lbs with our first and lost it all within 8 months- most of it right away. Now she's 38 weeks (about 40lbs up) and I'm sure she'll do the same thing and drop the weight soon after. If you were skinny like her before you'll more than likely be back there right afterwords. Your down to the home stretch. Having the baby will make the weight gain stuff seam silly.

I have a similar problem as your friend. I gained 8lbs during the first trimester and I really did try to eat salads and veggies, but I seriously couldn't stomach them. I had a particular bad episode after eating some Brussels. Same with Tofu, much to my husbands dismay because I used to make super healthy tofu veggie stirfries often for dinner. Its getting better now that I am in my second trimester but for awhile I ate stuff I NEVER ate before I was pregnant like beef ravioli, mayonaise sandwiches, whoppers and high calorie fruit drinks. My hubby is so sweet and jokes about the alien who took over his wife, as long as I take my vitamins he's glad I'm gaining weight and the baby is healthy.
Oh, I dont have any problems eating fruit however, I eat lots of oranges, cherries, bananas etc. all the time.

No you are not the only one, I am 33 weeks pregnant and I have gained 55 pounds. "All I Think About Is Food!" I am so depressed I don't even want to leave the house, I am banning everyone from coming to see the baby when he is born just because of my fat self....I have been on modified bed rest for two months wich does not help the situation.
I have two other kids I ate horrible when I was pregnant with them alot of salt and fast food. This time around I have stayed away from the FF joints, but I am still a sweets and fruit junkie....
Good luck and don't be so hard on yourself....like my husband says pregnancy will only last 40 or so weeks of your life!

Most women will gain that is just part of being preg. but how much you gain is up to you and the food choices you make.

there is something about pregnancy...

I gained 65 pounds, eating only lunch and dinner. I did eat more food than normal, bigger meals, because I was worried about getting the full spectrum of vitamins and minerals. Now I wish I had just taken lots of vitamin pills!!

You know how, sometimes, once you are fat all you have to do is look at food to release insulin? Well I started out pregnancy thin, but I had that insulin overdrive situation going on. People who have never experienced it, don't believe it. To those people I say "have some compassion" or life might arrange for you to learn the hard way...
Best of luck losing the baby weight.... remember, its about insulin

With my first I gained 40 lbs, I gained 20lbs of water weight in the last month and a half of pregnancy. Lost 20 lbs the very next day after delivering and I lost the other 20 about 9 months later.

Now, 3 yrs later, Im 14 weeks prego, started out 20 lbs lighter pre preggo than with my first, and I have lost 2 lbs, so no weight gain yet.

I have been eating a lot healthier and not as much, I was living by the "eat for 2" motto with my first, not this time around!

pre-pregancy weight loss

yes, before my hubby came home from his TDY i had just lost 10 lbs. I'm just starting week 29 and have gained that back plus an additional 30 lbs. i eat only when i'm hungry and it's been kind of a rough one with constant vomitting, which i got medicine for. But she's very tempermental, if i don't eat i puke, if i eat i puke. so pretty much a lose-lose situation. now i've actually started weighing myself, and it's funny cause it can fluctuate about 5 lbs in a day (i'm guessing water weight). The doctor hasn't said anything about it other than i'm on track with the weight gain. so i'm just trying to steady it out over these last stretch.

I gained 34 lbs, lost 24 lbs

I ate pretty good messed up a few times but, I was over all careful of what I ate. I had my baby 2 weeks and one day ago and I lost all but 10 lbs so far. I saw my stomach after I got to my room and started to cut back eating asap. If you watch what you eat and excerise then you'll lose weight. If you don't you'll stay that size or get bigger. Not to be mean just being honest!

Three pregnancies and I have no idea how much I gained! I taught aerobics throughout all the pregnancies, ate well, and told the dr. to just tell me if I was on target or not. I was back in my prepregnacy clothes by the 6th-8th week with them all. I also nursed them all for a year. That probably helped.

Poll: how much weight did you gain at the end of your pregnancy?

HI everyone. I gained 20lbs. My son weighed 9lbs 2oz at birth. I had no pregnancy complications, and I did not have to do anything that I wasn't already doing to loose weight after. I had a c-section. I was back to pre-pregnancy weight of 135lbs in about 4 days.
My comment is not to discourage anyone or make anyone feel bad about the amount of weight she gained during pregancy. I have been working out and eating healthy since I was 14 years old, and maintained 135lbs by just working out and eating healthy. I also continued to eat healthy while I was pregnant and still exercised. I was also on active duty in the Navy and had to stay fit for my job.
I want everyone to know that you don't have to struggle with weight gain and loss from a pregnancy. If you plan ahead and ensure you are eating healthy and exercising and you continue while pregnant you should not have any issues after. A healthy lifestyle also lowers one's risk of complicatoins during pregnancy. Being a healtly weight prior to pregnancy is always a helpful piece of the puzzle

Dear PP ~ if you are so fit and healthy, why are you here? I was under the impression this was a site to help people lose weight, not have others throw their perfect bodies at those of us that need to lose.

I gained a bunch because I had just lost a bunch prior to getting pregnant. I weighed in at 220 when I gave birth. Sadly, I surpassed that weight when I just started gaining weight.

To the 5:53 poster ... Perhaps you should look to those here with the "perfect bodies" as an inspiration to those who need to lose weight and want support. I don't think she was throwing her perfection around. I think she was making a valid point and offering advice.

@12:40 ~ when someone includes statements like "my comments are not meant to discourage blah blah blah" they are generally made to do just that. It's like saying "no offense" when you know darn well that what you've just said has offended one or several within earshot. She knew what she was doing when she did it, IMO. Personally, I don't look to those with lifelong perfect bodies for support. They have no clue what it is to struggle, no CLUE. Even my own child doesn't understand because she's blessed with being thin. No, I take support from those who are here to lose weight and are looking to those with like minds to help. People with perfect bodies who don't know the struggle just can't get it.

80 lbs

and I didn't eat that much - three meals a day. larger than normal, but not gargantuan, just more peanut butter on my sandwich, more spaghetti on my plate.....

good luck. Hormones balance out after a while. If you gain a lot of weight it's insulin issues...

Maybe the people with the "perfect bodies" (as you call them) have their own struggles. While you see a woman with a perfect body and assume she has no clue, you might reconsider. It's not always as it seems.

i gained 92lbs.

i gained 92 lbs in my pregnancy 5 years ago. i went from being 107 to 199. My weight gain was caused by pregnancy induced hypertension (my body retained alot of liquid) everybody told me i wasnt going to loose the weight!!! but i did!!! i went to 118 within 6 months and today i am still at that weight. and i did eat healthy and excercise regularly even till this day. The problem wasnt loosing the weight it's how your skin ends up afterwards. it's been 5 years and my skin hasn't repaired itself. i guess its from rapid weight gain and loss over the course of a year

80 lbs

I did not eat a lot, in fact, only craved salads with light dressings the entire pregnancy (along with the occasional apple pie or random condiment). Overall my diet didn't change at all after I became pregnant, but still managed to gain 20 lbs within the first trimester. I did not have hypertension or any other complications. I wasn't skinny at the start either. In my family the women just get very very large during pregnancy. Most of us lose all or most of the weight gained within 4 months after the birth of the baby. I have 4 sisters and all of them have gained 50+ lbs with all of their children, so I'm assuming this weight gain is genetically based. But this isn't the case with many other people who gain as much weight during their pregnancies.

"Personal Trainer"

I apologize if I offend you in anyway but frankly I find it quit hard imagining you as a "personal trainer"... my reasons? well one cuz a personal trainer wouldn't scratch their head at someone's weight gain during pregnancy, even if that weight gain is 90 pounds or more... you of all people as a "personal trainer" should know that eating only salads and fruits IS NOT adequate amounts of nutrition for a normal person let alone someone who is pregnant. Instead of you bashing the person which wether or not was ur intentions is how it came across, you should be explaining to this person that maybe the reason she gained that much was either one genetics two her body wasnt getting the amount of nutrition it needed to sustain a healthy person let alone a pregnancy, that the body went into what we call survival mode.. meaning the metabolism pretty much shut off in order to hold on to or absorb the calories and nutrition it was getting and told the body to stop burning the calories for energy and store it instead, cuz when you dont eat enough your body is going to store it all in survival mode that it may not eat again. There is a reason that during pregnancy they tell you to eat for one but eat at least 2200 calories a day. Its so your body knows its going to eat and can use the right nutrition for baby and your body and use the right calories to burn for energy. I only beleive that her only mistake was that with a carb like fruits especially those that convert into sugar very quickly like watermelon grapes or strawberries that she didnt eat a protein... protein combined with a carb slows down the process in which normally good foods turn into sugar and in return is stored as fat, which is what we call insulin spikes if you eat only the carb. Also she could have just been the body type that gains a lot during pregnancy... I just met a girl today who is very small.. she told me that during her pregnancy she gained 97 pounds, she went into the delivery room weighing 210 and walked out weighing 145... the majority of her weight gain was fluid retention... so the same could be said for this girl who gained 93 pounds, most people however dont lose that much fluid in a 48 hour time, many times it takes weeks. But for you to sit there as a personal trainer and show off your weight loss while bashing another person instead of giving proper advice to me is rude and shows that you are not a very good trainer. I myself am 7 months pregnant and so far i have gained 40 pounds which is already 5 pounds over the max amount i was allowed not to include the fact that i still have 11 weeks to go in my pregnancy and i KNOW that the last couple months are your most weight gain so im going to be looking at about 210 215 pounds right at birthing time... we will see how much of that is fluids once i give birth and give my body a couple of weeks to flush my system but at the end of it all i know i will still be looking at about 180 pounds. which for my height is still over weight. but i know i watched my calorie intake and worked out when i was able to. unfortunately i am one of the unlucky ones that have a very hard time breathing during pregnancy so the treadmill was pretty much off limits for me. look before i go onto writing a huge novel before speaking you should really understand that people are different every pregnancy is different... and that there are always factors to consider before just assuming someone was not eating properly like gestational diabetes or maybe they were put on bed rest due to complications. or like me maybe they were banned from working out cuz they were unable to keep their heart rate at the recommended pace during the most calming of work outs. PS i know this poll was written forever ago but if people still come across this i wanted to share my thoughts.

OK?

Yea ok well just that you know you can gain a lot of weight during pregnancy without over eating. I was about 6 months pregnant and doing good when I developed toximia ( your body retains a lot of water and makes your blood pressure high) and I gained about 80 lbs total and ate healthy and actually exercised during my pregnancy. My sister who is 10 years older had the same problem with her pregnancy and she was a United States Marine so she was in excellent shape. If you know so much maybe you should become a doctor just saying. It is an awful feeling to gain that kind of weight and people do not need to listen to PEOPLE like you to make them feel worse GET A LIFE!

i gained 107 with my first!!

im a little over 5'8 and was 135 when i got pregnant with my first daughter. i ate relatively healthy but ran into severe complications which required me to be on bedrest for almost 6 months. when i had my baby girl i weighed 242 pounds. she was about three weeks early and only weighed 5.2 pounds. after i had her i underwent multiple surgeries and was on bed rest for a long time after her birth. i gained about another 20 pounds. about a year later i had my second daughter and gained about 45 with that pregnancy. after i was so depressed from all the weight gain ( i weighed about 300 pounds) i just kept eating. my highest weight was 358!! my husband was so supportive and truthfuly i think he like the curves. but i knew i had to change for my daughters sake, i had to be healthy for them and set an example. its five years later now, im 26 and weigh about 190 pounds. i am pregnant again now with twins and expect them in the fall (i have only gained 50 pounds with this pregnancy so far! i am still breast feeding both my daughters, my oldest audrianna only a few time a day and my youngest juliet for about half of her meals. i plan on breastfeeding my twins until they no longer care for it anymore! i am happier than ever and hope to inspired some of you. -god bless

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be unkind, but am wondering what you meant when you said you ate healthy during pregnancy. Do you mean you ate healthy ONLY during pregnancy and the rest of the time over ate? Or are you saying you eat healthy but weigh over 230 pounds?

By the way, the above post is in response to this:

'1st baby: Start weight 242. Gained 26 pounds. Baby was 8 lb 6 oz. Back to pre-pregnancy weight at 1 week checkup.

2nd baby: Start weight 238. Gained 24 pounds. Baby was 9 lb 8 oz. Back to pre-pregnancy weight within a month.

Both pregnancies I ate very healthfully, carefully following the diet plan outlined in the book "What to Eat When You're Expecting."

Distasteful comments

It is pretty sad to reach out to forums such as this, meant to help women in our situation, and see that there is always one (or a few in some cases) women who seem that they need to take their frustrations out on others. Before attacking someone because you 'feel' their comment may have been rude, stop and think that your ranting and raving on here makes almost everyone else very uncomfortable... as well as makes us loose faith in the support of other women. People come here for help and advice, and instead leave with such a bad taste in their mouth because of women who need to find conflict in every situation they are thrown into. This forum could be 100% positive and these women would still find something to flip around and be mad or 'offended' over. Please guys, let's be supportive of one another. I have never commented on a forum before, but today has just pushed me to. Just very tired of seeing positive atmospheres turned negative by the few. If you see a comment that you think (might) be meant in another way, just move on. Chances are, you were mistaken about how it came off in the first place. (if you look at this forum for example, the whole point of it is lost as you go down the page because it is taken over by women bashing back and forth. What does this accomplish?) - just a women tired of seeing every helpful place turned into a bashing field, always by the same few women

I know that several of these comments are old but I feel the need to share. I am 35 weeks pregnant and have gained 85 lbs with this pregnancy. I have gained 75 lbs or more with all 4 pregnancies. I started at 135 lbs with my current pregnancy. The dr is not sure why I gain weight like I do. I eat healthy and not excessively either. I also am able to loose the weight between 6 and 9 months after having my babies. This is not easy and seems to be harder the more kids I have. EVERYONE is different and I am jeleouse of women that gain 25 to 40 lbs but thats not me. I had to accept a long time ago to not worry about my weight while pregnant. As a RN I know how vitally important it is to eat the required calories and to make sure they count. I am amazed at how many comments are attacking women for excessive weight gain thinking its poor eating habbits when in fact that is not always the case. I truley did eat healthy, kept a food journal and saw a RD sometimes there is not always an answer. Many of the comments on here have made me feel that I am not alone in the excessive weight gain during pregnancy and have made me feel better thanks for sharing:-)

Follow up for the know it all comment

There is a link to weight gain based on family history. I have 2 OBGYN's in my family. Your doctor may say there isn't but that is simply so you don't use it as an excuse to be careless. That is great if you don't gain much weight but shouldn't judge people who do. It's like the women who have 2 hour easy Labor judging those who have 30 hour labor for using an epidural. Not comparible and not supposed to be that's why there is an average (which is comprised of both extremes to create the median). It sounds like you were overweight to begin with so if you go by the "average" you should have gained 0-15 lbs. it's silly to compare considering you are an expert in your pregnancy and yours alone.

Good for you for losing weight. That has nothing to do with pregnancy. I gained 35 lbs alone in fluid and lost it 2 weeks after giving birth. For being trainers this is a very uneducated forum of individual weight loss stories.

Gained 96 pounds during pregnancy

Before my pregnancy I weighed 101 very thin ate healthy before and during my pregnancy. My weight gain was out of my control I was put on thyroid medication I got very depressed during my pregnancy. I recently just gave birth 3 weeks ago and lost 45 pounds. I weighed 197 by the time I gave birth. Most of It was due to water weight and my thyroid problem. Now my metabolism is back to normal, but even with all that weight loss my body is now permenatly damaged from all that weight gain I have terrible stretch marks and saggy skin that won't probably go away unless I get surgery I left me scared. In some woman extreme weight gain isn't their fault and it's due to a medical problem. I believe people need to know that hypothyroid is a problem during pregnancy for some woman. I didn't find out I had hypothyroid until 3 weeks before I gave birth, my whole pregnancy I was clueless on why I was gaining weight.
