Best Breakfast

What is enough food to get the metabolism going, but little enough to keep the calories down?

I'm just not a morning eater, but everyone is telling me that I must eat in the morning.

oatmeal & yogurt what I eat almost every morning. I use Quaker old fashioned oats, which don't take very long to cook and are much tastier (and better for you) than the quick or instant stuff, which I think tastes like wallpaper paste.

I don't know if it's SO low in calories, but those complex carbs give you a lot of energy -- great for right before a workout, or just to keep you going until lunch. I've had success with having this for breakfast, and then a very light lunch and a small, low-carb dinner.

RE: Breakfast

I always love the scrambled butter...just eggs. Also oatmeal w/ raisins.

But what I really would like to know is this:
What is a good dry cereal that is "healthy" for breakfast (Mueslix, Kashi, etc.)

I have a hubby who detests both eggs and oatmeal and Im trying to contribute to his diet as wel! heheheh

my breakfast soulution

I'm not a huge fan of breakfast (who has time in the mornings??), but I'm trying really hard not to skip it. I've come up with something that gets me to eat and satisfies the "nibblies"

I mix together in a plastic baggie or cup:
1/2 cup Wheat Chex (They are just slightly sweetened)
about 2 Tablespoos of dried cranberries
10 or so whole Almonds
(sometimes a pinch of dried coconut for variety)

I nibble throught the train ride or at my desk in the morning. I figure its got under 200 cal. Cause you nibble it like trail mix, takes longer to eat, so it combines my breakfast and morning snack needs

good cereal for good hubbies!

Kashi Good Friends is awesome. it has tons of fiber so beware the first few times you eat it. may want to avoid coffee consumption withit, but every morning, I add about 1/3 cup of blueberries to 1-1.25 cups of kashi and skim and it's great..keeps me energized and i get my fiber and my antioxidants....

Eggs 1/2 eggs, 1/2 egg whites and veggies

perfect combination of protein, fats and very good for you carbs. Any restaurant/deli will make this too. It's very easy, not too much fat and will stave off cravings while providing an excellent source of energy and vitamins. It really is as easy as ordering a sausage and egg biscuit, you just have to go to a different place. Also, make sure you request no oil if you're not making this yourself. The fat can add up very quickly.

I usually either have a banana and cup of skim milk, yogurt and apple, or oatmeal for breakfast. They are all pretty low in calories and usually keep me going to mid morning, then I need a snack, I usually have a piece of fruit and then it'll hold out till lunchtime.

Also, I have a milk shake sometimes, 1 cup skim milk, 1 banana, and a few ice cubes to make the consistency a bit thicker and more filling, plus in the summer months, it's so refreshing.

Here's my favorite

Grapenuts cereal with lowfat milk or soymilk and 1/2 sliced banana or sweet melon, raisins and frozen blueberrys. I don't use any sweetener because soy milk is a little sweet.

i have oatmeal and coffee pretty much everyday for breakfast. i don't have enough time to eat at home so it is perfect for work. i also like those fruit and cottage cheese doubles from the grocery store. another option is cantaloupe and cottage cheese or canned peaches (in light syrup) and cottage cheese. the cottage cheese has a lot of protein and some carbs, but the fruits adds the carbs to keep you going until lunch.

Kashi rocks, but how does it taste??

I just got their granola bars and am pretty pleased with the tast. How is the cereal? Can you compare the taste to anything?

I like a cottage cheese doubles in the morning. Its good protein and satisfies the sweet tooth.
