Ideas to help overeaters (like me)

Hey,
I just got up with something thats helping me not overeat at night.
just think of a food you dont particularly like, and would eat it if it was part of your daily menu, but wont if your not really hungry- for me its yogurt.
then when its night time, and Im done with all my menu, but get that hunger feeling- I just ask myself if I would have a yogurt now, if the answer is no, I dont eat (if its yes- i allow myself a yogurt). That usally works for me because im not really hungry, and it helps me be aware of the fact that its proably emotianal, and those extra callories are'nt whats gonna make me fill that up.
Another thing is drinking water, I read that many times we missunderstand our body, and when it signals us that its thirsty, we think hungry, so drink a lot.
