Did you ever feel like you needed to make a big change??

I feel like I need to do something new and exciting. Have you ever felt this way? I am talking like moving far away, change careers, make new friends, something wild!

Maybe I am just sick of this cold weather and the day to day stuff but I want a big change. Same thing at work each day, cleaning the house, living from paycheck to paycheck, struggling with losing weight, etc.

I do not want to run away or leave my family. I want to take my spouse and kids and leave town!

Anyone else ever feel this way?

Thanks, Run-away Gal

Yes and you should do it. Take off for a month. Or a year. Do a house swap. Something. You'll never regret it.

I feel that way sometimes. What helps me is my hobbies. We go camping. Not in tents, but camping all the same. When we are out in the woods the rest of the world melts away.By Monday, I'm refreshed and ready to face the world again. It makes the winter kind of hard for us though.

OMG, I hear you!

One thing that is helping me is that we are less than 6 weeks away from avg. last frost here, so I am planting seeds every day. It's still snowing -- winter storm today! -- but the little green seedlings that have taken over the table by the window are growing toward summer! Tomatos! Eggplants! Flowers!

If you're farther north, try planting something slow-growing, maybe?

I think about it all the time. Life can get so drab and boring. I would love to just pack up and move to the other side of the country. I have live in California my whole life. I always wonder what it's like in other places. I have two kids that are an adventure in themselves, but sometimes I get so bored in my own skin I can't stand it! Something new with the family sounds absolutely fabulous!

I moved from Ontario to British Columbia with my bf and dog...our entire family lives out East.

It was actually VERY tough.

I love the idea of a house swap where we would exchange houses for a week or two. Kinda like what they did in the movie holiday I think that was the name of it.

I am totally with you!!!!!! Pick up and move somewhere totally different - do something totally different! I too get excruciating bored in my own skin. Where is the adventure?!

I've done this several times - once I and a friend literally threw darts at a map of the US (although I think we were kinda aiming for the west) and then up and moved there without so much as a couch to crash on. Every time it's been challenging, but invigorating and fun. The experiences I've had and the friendships I've made will stay with me throughout my life. I cannot recommend getting out of your comfort zone highly enough. You broaden your worldview so much when you do.

I know with a family it's a little harder and maybe one can't be quite so drastic in their changes, but it's also potentially a way to grow together. If you do decide to make a big change - try to remember to update this thread - I'd love to hear about it!

Yeah, I totally get what you are saying OP. I try to build a little conscious adventure into my everyday life by trying things I have never done before. I rode a zipline last summer, went caving this fall, went tubing this winter...who knows what the spring will bring? You can "travel" by breaking out of your everyday existance and talking with new people, learning new things.

try something new

I so agree with OP. I live in eastern canada and winter feels long. In the last month I went skiing for the first time in 10 years it made me feel so alive again to try something a little scary! Last Saturday i went cross -country skiing for the first time and it was so fun! I tend to be timid and nervous so it was great to push myself and enjoy the outdoors even when snow-covered. I always feel better after I do things that are different from the routine!
