pants sizes are strange

Went into Walmart yesterday picked out a small in active wear (sz 4-6) pr of 8 jeans and pr of 9 khakis, tried them all on and didn't fit into only 1 pair. Can you guess which one? It was the 9 way to tight, silly how everything is so different.

I bought a size 15 pair of pants at Smart Set, a size 12 at Rickis, a pair of size 8 jeans at Walmart- numbers inside of clothes mean nothing.

don't even get me started...

I can wear between an 8 and a 12 depending on whether or not they are slacks or jeans and where I buy them from...it's a bit frustrating...

I am with you on pants sizes being weird. I am out of Avenue sizes. I am not quite able to fit in "normal" sizes yet... where do I go?! LOL. Nothing seems to fit right.

OP here

It's very frustrating because you get so excited that you are in size 8 or small but does it really mean anything, no, all it means is that these pants fit. Who knows the actual size, I do know that I cannot fit in my homecoming dress from sophomore year of high school which was a size 11 so I guess I still have quite a ways to go to get to that size.

I'm currently wearing a size 4/5 in today's sizes. I just tried on my high school grad dress and it fits perfectly. It's a size 7/8 from 10 years ago!

I agree with the posted who complained of being between the "fat girl store" sizes and the normal sizes... I am too small for the Avenue size 14's, but can wear anywhere from a 14-18 in "normal" sizes. I think that it's because clothes aren't made in the US anymore... I have stopped ordering from Land's End anymore too, because their sizing is just way too inconsistant. Grrr!!!
