sunny d - "sunny delight" drink
Does anyone drink sunny d? Is it really that good for you?

its not good for you at all.

I would stick with orange juice or better yet oranges. Sunny D is manufactured and has a whole list of things added to it. stay with real food and you will be getting what you need with nutrition.

good for you? What are the ingredients?

no I don't think it's healthy either. I wouldn't rate it any higher than soda or juice made from "crystals".
off on my own tangent here for a minute -- this is one of my pet peaves, products that are marketed as HEALTHY CHOICES when they just flat out aren't. I'm sure there are worse things a person could drink but come on, it's not actually HEALTHY ... grrrr ... we need some serious marketing standards in the advertising industry!!! Did anyone see the expose CBC Marketplace did on the "Health Check" symbol ???? THAT was a frustrating eye-opener!!!

! ! ! ! ! !
NO ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Contains: Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, and 2% or Less of each of the following: Concentrated Juices...
Why don't you just drink water with a coupla tablespoons of sugar shaken into it for the same effect ?!?
...and juice isn't even that good for you (more carbs, less fiber, more sugar, less nutrients - better to just eat the fruit and a glass of water).

Dont drink any calories!!

Sunny D is fortified with Vitamin C (100%) and B1 (15%). It has *about* the same amount of sugar as leader juice products (about 25-27 grams). Though it isnt the healthiest thing for you to be drinking, its certainly not the least and not at all dangerous for children. Sunny Delight has changed its product over the past several years in response to the growing demands of the "healthier" consumer--as with any product in a capitalist system. Yes, it is annoying when advertisers market it as a "healthy" drink, but I wouldn't say it "flat out isn't". They aren't lying, just focusing on the good points. It is certainly a healthier alternative to other beverages on the market. Check it out if you don't believe me.

also, its true that Sunny D is only about 5% juice, but other "fruit drinks"--as opposed to fruit juice--are only about 10%, so its really not that much of a difference. Sunny Delight is an orange juice SUBSTITUTE. And allow me to reiterate that its fortified with Vitamin C (100%) and more B1 (15%) than any other drink in its category, including Minute Maid and Tropicana.
FYI, thiamin deficiency could lead to problems with the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, and/or diabetes. In less severe deficiency, nonspecific signs include malaise, weight loss, irritability and confusion.

Of the first three ingredients two are High Fructose corn syrup and corn syrup. Not really much better than soda!!

Given that high fructose corn syrup has a different effect on the body than naturally occuring sugars in foods, it is not the same as juice. And personally, I don't consume anything containing HFCS, "glucose-fructose" (the Cdn term for HFCS), or any kind of corn sugar.
