Anyone have any healthy, easy to follow, don't have to go to the health food store and buy a ton of stuff, information on a body cleansing diet?
Tue. Jun 21, 2:03pm
Nothing is going to be w/o effort. Google Master Cleanse. It is a cleanse where you drink fresh made lemonade every day. Not too many ingredients to buy. The website might even been Mastercleanse.com. I do this twice a year. Its difficult but very rewarding.

Wow, I just found a journal that someone kept while doing the Lemonade cleansing diet! Not sure I'm up to 14 days of it at this point but thanks for the information. I think I'll see if I can find the book ("The Master Cleanse" by Stanley Burroughs) at my local used book store. I'll read it before deciding what to do.

This may be a version of the "Vitamin C Flush" where you take very elevated levels of Vitamin C in a short period of time. Supposed to detox you. This is a good evening activity if you are alone. I have tried it, you do get flushed out.

OK, what are we really talking about here? I read packages on certain teas & diets, see this term and think am I going to have diarrhea for a week if I do this cleansing diet thing? And is there a cleaning diet that does not involve long periods of time in the bathroom? And how do you feel after? Does it just get rid of the bloat?
Some cold hard, stinky experience info would be appreciated.

Take a look at this journal that I found. This woman did the "Master Cleanse" for 14 days and she documents every little step along the way. It is just enough detail without being totally gross;
Try to get past (ignore) all her talk about lipsuction and other surgery related options for weight loss, unless that kind of stuff is of interest to you. It isn't for me. Anyway, I thought it was a very good depiction of what the cleanse is all about. Not sure I'm up to it, I'm still researching other methods.

all my yoga buddies do the master cleanse (organic lemon juice, honey, cayenne pepper, water, right?) about twice a year and love it. most of them are skinny. but I'm planning on trying it soon!
Thursday, June 23, 2005, 2:09 PM
Right, except not honey, it is organic maple syrup instead.
Thursday, June 23, 2005, 3:01 PM
what exactly are you trying to "cleanse" out?
Thursday, June 23, 2005, 8:38 PM
I do the master cleanse twice a year. It is challenging but the benefits include: dramatic weight loss, flushing out chemiclas from food and medications, great skin, great focus and energy, more free time as your meal is already planned and ready, and it gets rid of allegies and old injuries in many people. The cleanse is a chance for your body to rest from constantly digesting food, and allows it work on things like cleaning out your system and healing old wounds. I would recommend 10 days, 14 is even better- but I can't last that long. Make sure you are drinking 6 servings or more of the lemonade a day and take lots of water as well. Initially you will notice that your tongue is coated- these are impurities surfacing and the tongue will be a healthy pink towards the end. Some (usually smokers or people who eat unhealthy foods) will get flu like symptoms in the beginning- this is also a result of toxins leaving the body. If you hang in there, it will go away as your body heals itself. People have been known to beat major illnesses on this cleanse, pass gall stones they didn't even know they had, etc. I've lost 8-12 lbs. each time I do the 10 day cleanse. Of course most of it is gained back when you resume normal eating. Many become turned off by meat after the clease and switch to eating vegetarian. Again, go to the master cleanse website and you will have a thorough explanation of the benefits and how to properly do the cleanse. The experience varies from person to person, so you can't judge from just hearing about one person's experience.

Colon cleansing to lose weight in stomach
I was talking to a personal trainer yesterday who seems to be very intelligent and has certifications plus undergraduate education as well. The point is he seems to know what he is talking about when it comes to fitness and nutrition. When I asked him if there are any suggestions he as to target more body fat in the stomach area he suggested colon cleansing to rid my body of toxins and give it a chance to reboot and start fresh. I am very skeptical of this. I dont know how I could go days w/out food. I read the previos logs, though want to see if anyone has tried this since these logs were posted and the pros and cons of doing a cleansing.

I was thinking of trying a cleanse, but i thought i read somewhere that there was a 3 day one? I cant to the 7-14 day one, due to work and having a life, lol ;) I can (and might like to ) plan for a 3 day cleansing. Does anyone have any personal experience with this?
I would apprecieate any and all feedback!
Thanks So much!

Big weight loss on a cleanse - you're losing Muscle Mass!
If you're a big exerciser, these long cleanses are not so good for you. Sure, you drop a ton of weight, but much of it is lost muscle mass due to the dramatic decrease in calories (essetially putting your body into starvation mode).
I LOVE the idea of a cleanse, but would prefer using something herbal along with only eating whole foods. Maybe even do a juice fast, or broth and veg, or something like that. There are many different ones to try without making too much sacrifice.

One more thing: Flor Essence for detox
Google this product : Flor Essence.
I had surgery 3 months ago and had been constipated ever since. I have a healthy, fiber rich diet and my body just wasn't eliminating properly. Two weeks ago I finally asked someone at my health food store. When I mentioned surgery he said that I probably still had remnants of the pain meds (they cause constipation) and anaesthesia in my system. Flor essence is a tonic that you mix in 2 oz. portions with hot water and sip as a tea twice per day. Well, the first dose or two gave me diahrrea and after that I was fine. My body has been running efficiently ever since. Wow. I am amazed and so thankful. And it wasn't a huge investment ($29) and I was able to keep eating to fuel my exercise.

has anyone here tried themastercleanse.com?

how is mastercleanse different from Fat Smash detox?
Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 3:39 PM
I have found that a few days on high-water-content veggies and fruits is an excellent cleanse. Plus, you can have some prune juice in the morning.
Do a google on cleansing and prune juice - I have done it and it worked for me.
Talk about feeling great!! After loading up on broccoli, spring mix, apples, and other such colorful nutrient dense delights, I felt great. Go organic, if you can.
Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 4:10 PM
It is fall, and I have been eating 3 apples a day for a week. Not sure If I am cleansed, but I feel great.
Tuesday, October 24, 2006, 11:39 AM
11:39, at least you're getting quite a bit of fiber by eating 3 apples so that in and of itself should help!
I've researched the master cleanse and just started it last night. There is a team for anyone interested in joining us. It's simply called "The Master Cleanse". You can search for it under "teams".

a friend of mine tried this and while she did lose some weight, she LOOKED HORRIBLE!! her skin was pale and flaky, her eyes were kind of bug-eyed, her cheeks looked a bit sunken and her energy level was nil. after seeing the effects of this 2 week program on her body, i decided not to try it.

Simple lemon or lime water is an easy, every day to get some cleanse in.
Thursday, October 26, 2006, 5:59 PM
For both cleansing and weight loss, I've had everyone from personal trainers, nutritionists and a couple of colonic technicians tell me that you should start your day with a mug of got water with a good squeeze of lemon (juice of about half, I believe) as a mild way of cleansing your digestive system daily.

that web address is incorrect-at least google cannot find it or identify it.
Friday, October 27, 2006, 9:27 AM
The web address appears correct to me....
Here's the google search and a link to the google search - I just searched without the "http://" part of it...

this is super-strange!
I was reading this thread and followed the link above to a google search page which provided a link back to this thread ...

I tried the master cleanse a month ago and got really sick on day two. I had to quit and was really bummed about it.
I am starting the isogenix 9 day cleanse on tuesday though. My hubby did it in and lost 14 lbs in about 4 days and felt awesome. I am really excited. I havent done so well over the holidays so i am excited to jump start my new year.
Sunday, December 31, 2006, 10:52 PM
I think I really need this. After christmas, new years, I think it would be a great detox, and one I could manage long term. I'm going to try the master cleanse. Does anyone have a group?
Monday, January 01, 2007, 6:33 PM
I just started my 3rd time cleanse with the Isagenix products. I was VERY skeptical at first, but in October, 2006 I did my first 9-day cleanse and I went from 225 to 214 an 11 pound weight loss, then on the 2nd cleanse I went from 214 to 205, a 9 pound weight loss, and just today, January 1st, 2007, I began my first day of the 9-day cleanse and my goal is to get from 205 to 194. The cleanse is simple. The first and second day you drink 1/2 cup of the juice (Cleanse for Life) 4 times a day, along with an accelerator capsule twice a day, just for the first two days. The 3rd - 7th day you drink 2 protein shakes, 1 in the morning and 1 for dinner and eat an 800-900 calorie meal for lunch. On the 8th and 9th days you drink the 1/2 cup of juice 4 times a day with the accelerator capsules and that is it!
I have lost 20 pounds since October of 2006 and have about 40 pounds to get to my goal weight. I highly recommend the Isagenix products to anyone looking for a great cleanse. It made me feel good and I didn't get any diareha from it either.

Try the fruit flush by Jay Robb. he has his own website..you''ll find him. Great 3 day flush!!
Friday, February 02, 2007, 6:08 PM
Did the whole cayenne pepper, maple syrup bullshit. I've done all those dleansing diets things. They're a bunch of crap-literally. You end up tired, malnurished and moody. I drink hot water and lemon everyday as sson as I get up and it's the cheapest, best way to start the day. If you want to "loosen things up" then get some Smooth Move tea and have loose stool for an afternoon-flush out the old system.
For a true Detox-boil some chicken bones in crock-pot for three days-Yes. this sounds absolutely disgusting (I am Vegetarian)-apple cider vinegar and water. Drink this "elixir" until it's goine. The minerals in the bone truly purify your organs. This sounds gross and like some kind of Hokus Pokus but I spent $18,000.00 on a 4 month Detox Retreat and swear by it. There are so many expensive "kits" you can buy but I'll tell ya, if I could buy them I would. this is the Creme De La Creme of Detoxing and you don't feel moody or tired at all. It's easy and cheap and quick-great combo.
Saturday, February 03, 2007, 1:25 AM
-I was the last poster.
By saying I spent $18,000.00 on a Retreat I meant that although the thing cost me an arm and a leg; we drank chicken stock for four months. Nothing fancy. Didn't want to sound like a rich bitch or something...
Saturday, February 03, 2007, 1:28 AM
Even if you were rich...wouldn't have made you a bitch. Just rich.
Saturday, February 03, 2007, 11:31 AM
If you have daily, regular "movements", do you still need a cleanse? or are cleanses for constipation problems? Thanks.
Sunday, February 04, 2007, 1:25 PM
i, too, am a vegetarian, but i would sooo not drink chicken stock/loose chicken gelatin!!! this really goes aaginst the whole "vegetarian" thing.
i have turned to lemon water in the morning and found it works very well. an apple, too, helps get the metabolism going and gives me a boost. i thought i was really going to miss coffee, but i don't even realise it's missing from my diet until someone brings it to my attention.

spam alert- isagenix

I lose a lot a weight on this cleansing diet.
Thursday, July 05, 2007, 6:21 PM
Glad some people enjoy this product. It is HUGELY expensive for a 9-day cleanse.
