losing everywhere except around the middle

I keep losing weight, but my waist isn't shrinking! I'm down to the last 15 pounds, and the more I lose everywhere else, the more I'm aware of my round middle! Even finding clothes that look good is difficult...to fit my waist they're too large thru the lower hips and thighs! I'm on the treadmill almost everyday, and eat LOTS of fresh veggies. Help!

If you have more fat to lose just keep at it.

And you may be someone who has to get their pants tailored to fit really well. That's okay. Doesn't mean you're flawed.

As you lose more of your excess weight some of it will come off your abdomen. Central spreading comes with age. As we age most of our fat accumulates around our mid section. Look around you at other women (and men). I guess that's why they invented girdles and corsets.

ever heard of the term beer belly? They now theorize that wheat and gluten in general contribute to this- not just beer. The thinking is that the gluten protein cannot be fully broken down by the body. Meat protein can. This is why you rarely hear about allergies to meat, but you do hear about allergies to gluten.

Following this logic- have you ever heard the term "wine belly"?

You might consider bringing gluten and wheat levels way down. Many people are following "g-free" diets these days for all sorts of reasons. something to think about.

I have the same problem. When I talked to my doctor about it, she said that as we age, it is inevitable. That doesn't mean to not lose your last 15 pounds, but be realistic about how you are going to look. I have finally come to the conclusion that my stomach is never to to be flat like a model, but boy do I keep trying. I really want to prove my doctor wrong. I do credit her with reminding me to be realistic.

Keep at it until you reach your goal. You are doing a great job!

Most models are young things that haven't reached the age of fat stomachs! Also, a lot of models are emaciated!

I'm going to have to echo the poster who suggested cutting back on gluten and or wheat.

Alot of times, it's not actually fat around women's abs that they're trying to lose, but either stomach bloat (and yes, it's different than the bloated feeling at TOM or I ate too much) or simply sagging muscles and organs. Cutting calories won't help it at all.

Don't agree with the 'learn to live with it' attitude...have you tried pilates or yoga core exercises? even older adult women CAN have a flat tummy, it just take commitment to a lot of hard work!
