This site sells the Hypnosis CDs Jackie recommends on "Enjoying Weightloss" There are 4 cds, each with 2 sessions and I found them excellent. It was the Hypnosis Network that mailed me about PeerTrainer a week ago, and is why I am here!

Interesting.

I asked my doctor last week if I could be hypnotized to make green peppers taste like chocolate.

She said probably not but that hypnosis works for SOME people. Just like it works for some people with smoking (but definitely not all).

So are these self-hypnosis CDs?

We are what we eat.

And we are what we think. That is, the thoughts we have in our heads compose what we are and direct our actions. Change your thoughts and you change the course of your life. So in this respect hypnosis could be helpful whether it puts you 'under' or not because it is putting appropriate and positive thougths into your head perhaps/hopefully edging destructive and negative thoughts out. I would try whatever weight loss tapes I could find. In fact, I think I'll see if my library has some!

hypnosis tapes

The Enjoying weight loss CDs start with a very careful explanation of what self hypnosis is, and is not.

I always first listen to a new tape on my feet while doing something else, eg washing up, so there is no chance of my brain waves being slowed into the suggestible state ( Alpha ) without me knowing in advance, what is going to be suggested!

In the Alpha state ie the meditative state, with slowed brain waves produced by relaxation, suggestions can be made more easily to us, to our subconscious, than in the normal Beta state of faster brainwaves, and are therefore more effective

While lying or sitting listening to the session one is fully conscious ( unless one falls asleep...which I do often !) and is aware of sudden noises...phone ringing etc, cat jumping on one's lap, but we no longer pay attention to the usual sounds of life.

I think the reason some people cannot be Hypnotised, is that they either refuse,
or are unable to let themselves fully relax and remain instead in the Beta state...everyone CAN reach the Alpha state...for instance apparently voluntary urination & opening of bowels is impossible without slowing of the brain waves to the Alpha state which is why most people need privacy! (although there is involuntary action if very frightened!) Sorry this is all getting a bit medical...

So...having listened first to the tapes in Beta , they are more or less in my ordinary memory...as is Roberta's soothing voice. But if listened to when fully relaxed, Alpha, the suggestions are much more effective and longer lasting.

It is SELF hypnosis...you are relaxing yourself with methods taught by Roberta, and allowing yourself to be given the suggestions which you have aleady checked are OK for you.

I just got these CD's yesterday, I ordered them as well after getting the recommendation from PT. I did my first "hypnotizing" session today, I don't know if it will make a difference or not, but it was definitely very relaxing! I felt like I had a nap after 20 minutes of hypnosis. I'm curious to see if it will make a difference but am kind of skeptical too...I'll let you know what happens in a few weeks!

I've just got up from listening to the 3rd CD and then dithered between rushing out to the kitchen to drink some water, or hopping immediately onto my rowing machine for a row...the water won!
I think they definitely do work but need to be listened to quite regularly at first and then every now and again...it was this thread which motivated me to find them and listen to them again...love Robertas soothing voice ...all my worries seem to float away, and I feel full of energyafterwards.

I just started this series several days ago and I must say I feel a bit more in control now (kind of unexplained) I have alwyas had trouble with "sticking to it" . I KNOW how to eat and love to exercise but being consistent is my problem. I let other things get in my way and off I go for a few days or weeks and then back on again and wonder why I cant lose weight. This is the reason why! Consistency! It is a MUST in obtaining success in ANTYHING we do. I believe that my mind was/ is my barrier to success. I will keep you all posted. I find it very relaxing and the suggestions are coming to life for me now! With little to no effort on my part to do what needs to be done. It is working for me! It is important to find a time when you are undisturbed and able to relax. I downloaded to my i phone and either lay in the tanning bed or lay in my bed with lights off and listen! I LOVE IT.
