Fat can be Fabulous!!!

Hi guys,

I came across this article. Being a makeup artist (chubby, and always on the side lines... *sniff*) i thought it was super refeshing to see!
Would love to know what the rest of you think...

I feel conflicted about this, to be honest. I do believe you should be happy with yourself, but I fear that embracing being overweight is dangerous to your health. (And I'm using "your" here as a plural...not necessarily you, OP!)
If a person eats a diet full of veg., fruits, lean proteins, and whole grains and exercises on a regular basis, and they are still overweight, then I think tests need to be run to find out if there is an underlying cause. If not, then beating oneself up over extra weight is ridiculous. NOW, if a person is eating McDonald's, candy, soda, etc as their main diet, and they rarely do anything at all that is physically taxing, then I think fat is not beautiful at all but a hinderance to a healthy lifestyle.

I couldn't get past the picture of the girl on girl thing. That was gross.

That was gross? Puh-lease.

Most of those women weren't that fat- there were guaranteedly not bigger than a US 16, which is still in the "average" size range of clothing. (a 16w is diferent than a 16) and most were probably size 12. Their weight is not going to be much of a health concern.

I would love to know what the men on Peertrainer think of those pictures. Specifically the one in the gray body suit & the other pictures that show fat rolls. I could never feel sexy looking like that. Is that just my hang up? Do you men find those women appealing?

I don't think any of those women look "obese" but carrying even a little bit of extra weight around is hard on your body. So I guess I'm kind of conflicted about the article too...

I think I disagree more with the title of the post - fat is NOT fabulous. It causes many serious health problems and I think it's unhealthy to act like people should be happy with their bodies at ANY weight. Someone who is very overweight shouldn't just embrace it as "fabulous". Not IMO anyway...

Naked women hugging is gross. But I bet most men would like that!

I bet most of those women do fall in the obese category! BMI would definitely put them there. I don't find any of them sexy. Pretty in the face...even gorgeous, but the fat rolls are not appealing.

Actually, I highly doubt any of their BMIs would put them as "obese" ~ overweight, yes, but certainly not obese as per BMI standards. A 5'9" woman has to be over 202 pounds to be "obese" and those are tall women none of which look close to 200 pounds.

bmi is such garbage. I bet you most of them have a perfectly healthy waist to hip ration.

Given the range for "healthy weight" how absurd is it to say that even a "little extra weight" is hard on our bodies?

Fat doesn't cause problems, it's a symptom of a greater problem. Sadly, it's easy to fix the problem, but then you still have to fix the fat as it doesn't go away as easy as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or high blood sugar levels.

I think it is great & they look super sexy! I also agree with the 1st poster that there is some concern about portraying fat as fabulous/healthy. But I don't (my personal opinion here, not medical) that they are 'fat' - just large! Heck, I would love to look like that (and will in another 30 pounds or so!!)
