Forgetting a bag at the supermarket? Question........
Has this ever happened to you??
You go grocery shopping and you are paying while they are bagging. you dont really pay attention and sign you credit card reciept and go home, bags in tow....................you get home and unload your bags. Hubby comes home a few hrs later and askes if you bought a particulat item, which you knew you did. So, you tell hubby so, and while doing so, remember that you hadent seen it while unpacking . In my case, tonightt it was 6 cans of tuna and 4South beach bars ($15 total). I looked in my trunk.......i know i didnt leave any bags in the carrage........they MUST still be at the super market!
Im pretty mad........well, was earlier.....
My questions: If i go to the supermarket in the morning, can i show them my reciept and get said items??? Or is that redicous (sp?) ???

Exact same thing happened to me a year ago (well, without the husband though). I went back to Whole Foods and asked them if they had found the bag I had left. Apparently the store policy is to note it down if they had. Anyway, they hadn't, so I asked if I could pick up the items again and they were fine about it - I just told them which items were left behind (in my case it was about 8 dollars of stuff) and they let me pick it up, and checked it off my receipt.
If you went to a large supermarket then I would say it is definitely worth a try. I made a point of explaining it was chaotic when I was leaving, which it was - the cashier had been pushing through the next customer before I left. You can always ask for a manager and mention that Whole Foods did this for a friend of yours, if they say no... It's not like these big chain supermarkets are strapped for cash.

I would call them first... most likely one of the cashiers or baggier said something to the head person... they might have made a mental note of it and were or are waiting for someone to call... It has happened to me and I have gotten my stuff... though I knew about an hour after I got home and called within that time... still try... just call first, ask for the manager or head cashier clerk or service desk, say "who would I speak to concerning leaving a bag of groceries there yesterday?" Take it from there... try not to blame.. just say you rushed out without seeing that all of your bags were in the basket and that you left xy and z at the store... Was it found there? You have a reciept and a tuna less peterbed hubby... (joke around) and you will probably get good results.

Oh - btw, I forgot to say, in my experience I went back the next day and didn't call them before.

I've called the store before when this happened-- they were pretty good about it! ;-)
Of course, if you're a dummy like me and leave a case of pop on your cart in the parking lot, that's another story altogether (it only cost about $2, so I didn't bother going back for it.)

Thanks so much!
Thanks for making me feel like less of an idiot!
I called the store and they just told me to bring in my reciept and they will replace what ever was lost ;)

You are not the only one! I also did this at Target. It was just some nail polish and some lotion, but when I called they told me to come and pick out whatever I had initially. I didn't have my receipt or anything!

yeah-i think this must happen a lot. i've seen many other stray bags behind the customer service desk when i've gone back to retrieve my forgotten groceries. they are usually pretty good about it.
