22 and tired of feeling 92

I am 80 pounds overweight. My weight loss so far has been at a plateau. I am walking two miles per day and following along with exercise tapes at home, eating right....I just cant seem to lose the inches. I am tired and depressed most of the time and I know that is not who I really am. I am tired of looking in the mirror everday and being disgusted with my body, and I just cant seem to make any changes to it, no matter how hard I try. I have been single for almost 4 years now and I have a strong feeling that my body and my looks have a lot to do with it.

I guess I say all of this as a plea for help. I have come to the realization that I cannot do it on my own.

What should I do? What CAN I do? What has worked for you? How have you made your body transform into the YOU that YOU wanna be? Please help me...I'm desperate!

Maybe you need to vary your exercises. Try something FUN, like dancing. Walking can be boring, so can aerobics. But dancing can be a lot of fun, and you don't even realize it's exercising, building muscle and burning fat. Those are just the very pleasant effects of the activity.

If you feel comfortable being in a swimsuit, swimming is also a great exercise while being a fun activity.

Also, you may want to talk with a nutritionist. Sometimes they can come up with food combinations and portion sizes for your specific needs that you wouldn't have thought of yourself. I'm disabled so can;t exercise at all. I have to do it all by the way I eat. And a nutritionist helped me figure out exactly what to eat, in what portion sizes, with what other foods, and when. It's helped tremendously.

Best of luck!

Take a good hard look at what has gotten you to where you are right now. It's the culmination of all the choices you've made that have gotten you to exactly where you are right now. That's where you start and that's where you can make changes. Doesn't matter what worked for me - there's no one way for this to work - and only you can find that motivation to make changes in your life. What's it going to take for you to start doing things differently?

You're just going through a bad time. It will get better. It always does. Remember this too soon shall pass.

Take medicinal herbs to counteract your hormonal problems. Read 'Master your Metabolism' by Jillian Michaels, do what she says, but increase the strength of your changes with medicinal herbs. Keep a journal so that you can figure out what is helping and what isn't. You can do it!!!

There are some good ideas here. Weight Watchers is an excellent start for people who need to learn portion control. Medicinal herbs can help you feel a lot better. Ashwagandha is an herb which will give you more energy and calm you down.

Additionally, there is a specific "method" which we have just written about on the PEERtrainer Website:

A Method To Help You Feel Less Tired

Medical Conditions Related to Weight Loss

Hey, 22. I completely sympathize with your situation--I've felt the same way often. But I was struck by your mention of depression and how unhappy you sound. Have you considered that a medical condition might be derailing your weight loss attempts? Depression or a thyroid problem are the first things that jump to mind, but there are many conditions that could be throwing your plan off. I'd make appointments with a psychiatrist and an endochronologist. to get checked out. (And for anyone reading this who thinks that depression isn't a medical condition that can effect weight loss, do more research: there are more seratonin receptors in the stomach than there are in the brain.) Please feel free ot get in touch with me if you need more info. Best of luck to you!
