running for weight loss


I would like to know from people around this community what works best for weight loss. Is it running or barre workout? I appreciate your time and  if you could share your experiences.

Whats a barre workout? I'm assuming thats a typo.

I'm also assuming you mean workout in addition to some type of healthy eating plan which includes a reduction in calories. Most of us can't lose wt on exercise alone if our diets are unhealthy, high calorie meals. So lets assume you are also eating correctly (and you'll get an infinite # of comments on what consitutes eating healthy). For me, just eliminating sweets and adding extra vegetables/fruit is all it takes.

As for which type exercise is best for wt loss, the number one, without question, best exercise is known by me. Its the one you like enough to keep doing over a long period of time. It doesn't do any good to run if you don't like it and won't stick to it. Same w/ wts. Personally, I believe in balance. Both cardio and strength conditioning. I hate cardio, but the kind I hate least (sounds like I'm choosing a president) is rpm cycling class. So I force myself to do it about twice a week. The other days I lift wts and do core excercises, both of which I love. Running is a great exercise, but only benefits those that like it enough to keep doing it.

You are probably here because you have a significant amount of wt to lose. So pick an exercise plan you can stick w/ for the long haul. You can always change it if you start to enjoy one type of exercise over the other. Couple any exercise plan w/ a reduced calorie, healthy diet and, barring medical issues, you should lose wt.

It won't sell many books, but losing wt isn't about picking the best routine and newest diet. Its about sticking to a balanced program of diet and exercise. Find a good team on PT that focuses on these. Join a few different teams and see which one will keep you motivated. I'm on Progress Not Perfection, but I still monitor other sites for useful info. barre workout .. is that ballet. I googled barre.. I have never done ballet.. I do run and do other various exercise as well as eat clean.. i eat very little junk.. eating is key to releasing weight

peel is right.. you have to find what works for you.. there are some amazing teams on this site.. one peel and I are both in is progress NOT perfection.. we concentrate on fitness and healthy eating.

Thank you very much for your advice! I appreciate it. I agree that consistency andd discipline are significant in weight management.

I also thought 2 miles/day five days a week would be enough, but I was looking around on Amazon a few hours ago and I found this eBook on free promo! How To Lose Weight With Running: 11 Tips To Run For Weight Loss Anyway, this book says in order to lose weight with running I need to run a total of four hours a week or twenty miles per week. This is basically 6 or 7 miles per hour for 30-40 minutes per day. The way it's explained sounds pretty scientific. What's worked for you? Have you guys seen this free eBook?

great! I'm running for weight management and I think I will be doing barre workout indoors when it's raining and I cannot go out for a run outdoors.
