I read this book and it was very informative regarding the "science" of the low fat craze that started in the 70's. Interesting how Americas consumption of fat dropped starting in the 70's while obesity rose (overall). The American Heart Association allowed Kellogs to put there "low fat" seal of approval on fruit loops cereal which is basically a box of colored sugar.
I actually add fats to my diet (almond butter and nuts) to make sure I get enough fat cause my diet is pretty low in fat. The low fat craze substituted processed food, starches, and sugar for fat. With the exception of a few scientists (Atkins), it wasn't until around 2000 that people starting challenging the low fat heart healthy diet theory.
