What made YOU say "I have had enough and need a change?"

I joined PT yesterday after doing a Google search to find some sort of weight loss/fitness/healthy lifestyle blog online. After getting a profile started, I laid in bed last night thinking... what really got me wanting a change? Here are the last major signs: (these may not be a big deal to some but it was major to me)
1. I noticed this past summer my thighs were touching. Didn't do anything about it but nonetheless - that's when it started.
2. I had to buy bigger bras, my sports bras didn't fit either and I had already made one round last year of buying bigger pants and had to buy yet bigger a few months ago.
3. My stomach area touched my thighs when sitting at work at my desk.. I was like OMG.
4. I have hardly any desire for intimacy w/ my hubby. IDK if it's my age (41) or the weight but we are both gaining and I'm done with it.
5. I look at magazines and see people romping around in swimsuits. I don't even own one that fits.

I think my first goal I want to reach is to be able to zip AND fit comfortably in the size 12 jeans I own. They are the biggest. One step at a time. Accountability is big to me - so that is why I am blogging. I need help too.

I figure if I can battle and win against alcoholism, drug addiction and dealing and tobacco addiction - I can beat this.

God bless, Lorelei7

wishing you much success on your health and weight loss journey

Godspeed to you, Lorelei7

My most recent moment was when I stepped on a scale after 3 months and realizing I had gained close to 20 pounds in that short amount of time. No wonder my clothes didn't fit! Logging my food choices brings me much needed awareness. I don't get out of control if I track myself. I really love all the PEERtrainer programs, because it is all commonsense. I am also beginning to see Dr Joel Fuhrman's "Eat To Live" is making so much more sense this time around.

I believe that the most that I gained happened over the last two years after I quit smoking. Never heard of Dr. Joel Furhman. All I know is that I can't afford to buy into any program. I will have to do this one on my own. Commonsense is the best way to go! I didn't realize how tracking yourself really would make such a difference already. It has been one day and I was already thinking about the calorie intake at the b-day party BEFORE I even ate anything. A step in the right direction.

I broke my leg 6 months ago and was immobile/non weight bearing for two months. I am slowly building my strength, but am just now able to walk long distances and work out at the gym. I gained 20 pounds in the past six months, my clothes dont fit well, and I generally feel run down. I refuse to buy new clothes, and I want my my spunk back, so that is what is currently motivating me.
Good luck on your journey OP!
