I have some expensive nike's that have air in the heel, I use them only for running or zumba so that they do not wear out inside. I have heard that serious runners go and get fitted for the right shoes, but I have never done that. I found my nike's through trial and error. I am not sure if I have dr. scholls inserts in them or not, I have inserts for all of my hiking boots.

Oh come on, answer the question: five fingers are not all about support.

OP, I would do what the first responder mentioned and go to a running store. They will often spend half an hour working with you to get your first pair of shoes, then they will write down for you what you need in a shoe, which lasts work for you, etc. Of course they hope to have your ongoing business as you wear out shoes -- and that's not always a bad idea, since many running shops also have training programs for beginning runners -- but you take that information and shop on Zappos subsequently, if you are so inclined.

1. Above are 2 links w/o commentors names. Probably advertising by someone who just scans sites looking for good places to adversite, but they could also be scams/viruses. I recommend not clicking on links unless the person leaves there name so you can be fairly confident that it is not a scam/virus.
2. I hope no one goes to a store, takes up the time of the person selling the product (possibly working on commission) and then purchases the product on the web. I'm sure everyone here thinks there time at work is of some value, and would be ticked if someone wasted their time and energy. If you want to buy on the web, great. Just blindly order the product and take what you get. But a store built on service like some shoe stores prices the value of their expertise into the price of the product. If you use their expertise, purchace from the store. Otherwise, you are basically helping to put someone out of a job. I bet you would not like that. (I realize the above postor was not advocating that. From their message, I believe they purchase from the store.)
