Guy's perspective - Father's Day

I need all the guys on PT to help me out. I have a really fantastic husband and would love to do something really special for him on Father's Day. He gets to pick his fav. breakfast, anyplace he wants to eat for lunch we will go, and I have a few gifts for him, but what else can I do for him to know how much I appreciate him? I need ideas of things your wives have done for you, ideal father's day ideas in your eyes and so on. Ladies, I could use your help too, if you have anything special you have done for your husband, I would love to hear it. Thanks in advance.

Give him a lap dance. We all love to watch women shake their stuff in our faces.

just asking my husband...

He said first off he did not know what your husband likes, is he into golf or fishing... a day to fish with kids would be nice... when I read the other ideas, he smiled, and a big grin for the lap dance comment.... then he said "mow the lawn for him." oh gee... now I know what he wants.... thanks... (i think...)

My dh loves jujifruits... so I got him a couple of boxes for my ds(2) to give him and we will be making a card... gotta get on that.

I think guys would want what most Moms would want-- maybe breakfast or dinner with the family and some gifts, but the rest of the day, going solo maybe with some buddies and enjoying a day to himself! That shows you prize him as an individual and can give him TIME to himself, something most, if not all parents wish they had more of!

We always have a BBQ b/c my dad loves to grill! We used to have all of the grandparents over, but now one set is gone and the other lives across the country. This year, we're having my fiance's dad over for the BBQ. The funny part is, my dad is always the one who cooks it! But, again, that's b/c he loves to grill!

Any activity that your husband loves, that can involve the family, is probably the way to go!

If you have kids wait until they are in bed. Shower, put on a sexy nightie, candles, soft music and go with the flow. Wink!!!

9:41 poster: I'm sorry. Must be hard not to be appreciated.

OP: My husband's favorites have been when I spent money from my personal account to buy him the biggest, baddest grill I could afford; when we went fishing and I did all the untangling of child lines and baiting of little kids' hooks so he could fish uninterrupted while still having the kids there; and letters of appreciation that outlined specific things from the year (he'd been thanked for them all already but he still has that note). In our house, we both get to do quite a bit of what we like because we tend to spoil each other, so Father's Day is usually pretty simple--notes and cards from the kids, following his lead on the day's activities, etc.

I'm bummed because he's in Seattle right now, and I almost had a chance to go up there with a friend and surprise him. Man, to have seen him walk into the hotel lobby and find me sitting there...that would have been awesome. However, my friend didn't let me know in time for me to be able to make arrangements. Ah, well, it would have put our While You Were Out-esque redecorating project behind. We're doing the dining room and kitchen while he's gone. A huge job that he won't have to do!

He loves it when I mow the lawn (I usually do) and he loves cookies...He's pretty easy to please but there have been times when it was fun to go a bit over the top.

If you asked him what he wanted--well, okay, if *I* asked him--he'd probably say something like, "Oh, not much. Especially if you're wearing it."

OP here - last poster - you guys seems like you have a fantastic relationship. That's so awesome to hear.
So far I have gotten him some fun gifts and plan on just letting him to whatever he wants to do. Lots of time alone in his hammock, going for a run..I will do most of the stuff for the kids, too, so he doesn't have to (putting them to bed and so on). He loves to mow the lawn so that wouldn't be much of a gift for him.
9:41 poster, I am not a "bust his chops" kind of girl. Sorry that you have to experience that.
1:50am poster - I am pregnant, a lap dance seems kind of laughable, or do you still think I should offer??? :)
Thanks everyone for your help!!
