post menopausal bleeding
I went through menopause 10 years ago. This past week end I had what looked and felt like a menstrual period of yesterday. 2 days of cramps and bleeding tapering off on the 4th and 5th day. I have been set up for a vaginal ultrasound by my gyn but it is not until Monday. She was not encouraging and said the cancer word. After the exam however she said everything feels very normal and there is no sign of bleeding anymore. Then she set me up for this teast on Monday.
Anyone out there experienced this? I have never taken hormones.
Thu. Jun 29, 1:30pm
I will keep you in my prayers.

Good to know that your ob-gyn is not sugar-coating the possibilities, and that she has expedited your testing.

what kind of tests is she doing...bleeding is a sympton of uterian cancer in women over 50

I am waiting to hear the report from doctor. Technician was positive however but they can not say very much which drives me crazy as a patient. I am feeling very optimistic. Thank you for the prayers.

Hope things turn out well for you.

how are you feeling? have you gotten back the recent test results? hope all is well!
Monday, July 17, 2006, 1:29 PM
Thanks...results today showed cancer cells so next step is total hysterectomy.
We think it is early stages since we got results after first signs of bleeding. It is very optimistic since I sought help early.

To the OP, so sorry to hear that you have to have a hysterectomy, but I"m glad to hear that things may be okay because you were vigilant in your concern...
Keep us posted.

best wishes for your surgery! my grandmother had a hysterectomy and following it, she has been fine. i've read a bit about the procedure and they recommend going through the abdomen or using laprscopy for the quickest post-operation healing. hope you have a strong support system "out htere", but if not, please remember that we are here for each other...here's a little love for you

Science has made such great gains in cancer treatment in the past few years. Keep a postive attitude and know that we are all here for you. My husband had cancer when I was pregnant with my second baby. She is now 14 and he is doing fine and has been cancer-free since the first bout.
Read all you can about your cancer. A good book for women is "The Wisdom of Menopause" by Christiane Northrup, MD. She talks about pre- and post- menopause and things you can do to help yourself. It is very much a pro-woman kind of book. She also has a new one out called "Mother-Daughter Wisdom" which is great to read if you have a daughter or if you ARE a daughter!
I'll be thinking of you. Keep us updated.

Thank all of you so much...The staging Surgery is July 27th and the surgeon gyn oncologist is well trained at MD Anderson in Houston. They go into the abdomen and look around and take some lymph nodes also in the pelvis and upper abdomen. It is highly curable and I have every confidence that this is early stages since bleeding is early symptom. So all of you post menopausal women out there run to the doctor if you have abnormal bleeding or even a clear or pink discharge. Too many women ignore the symptoms and wait too late. Thanks for the prayers and hugs.

Thanks...went to preop today and my heart lungs blood pressure normal and they promised me drugs so I am OK with it now. I am so happy that I am healthy...some people are not when they face this sort of thing. I can count many blessings.

MD Anderson...you can't get much better than that. You are in excellent hands and I know quite a few ladies who have been cured of uterine cancer and recovered rapidly from the hysterectomy. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. This menopause stuff is new to me, so I appreciate these comments. You are in my prayers. - a fellow Texan.

Thanks and by the way I love Texas! Even though I live in SC.

Went through the surgery well. Today the path report shows stage 2 which means they found it in one lymph node out of 30 something. The cancer was halfway through the muscle wall. Will go through radiation and chemo. Still feel positive.
