when were you determined and focused?
I was wondering when the last time, you were maybe the most focused, productive, and determined in your life?
What was going on and where did you gather your strength?
Sun. Jul 9, 7:30pm
The times that I am the most focused is when I know I have to look good. Like my wedding, I was wearing a strapless dress, I bought it over a year before my wedding, so I couldn't gain weight. My friends wedding, cause I wanted to be the hottest brides maid and my husband was the best man.
I want to look good for my sister's wedding this fall and the strapless dress I will be wearing. Besides my sisters weding, right now the four things that keep me focused are, my 10 year high school reunion in 2007, my hawaiian cruise in September, my health, and being a "hot" wife. :)

determined and focused
Great question...as it makes me think back to that time...
Last year I trained for a sprint triathalon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and raised money while getting fit. It was an incredibly rewarding experience both emotionally and physically...we had a coach and a team that helped with motivation. I remember each and every training session, whether with a group or on my own, being inspired and in awe of the people that struggle and fight each day to try an overcome some horrible illness that is threatening to take their lives. This was such a powerful experience that I highly recommend it to others.

i seem to be determined and focused in every area of my life EXCEPT diet and exercise. i went ALL the way in school, i am a perfectionist at everything, but when it comes to exercise i'm like, "oh well - whatever." then i get mad at myself.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about this...about how nothing could deter me from doing something I really really wanted to when I was 20 (travel alone in a foreign country), 22 (emigrate), 26, etc. Whenever I get an attack of the "can't-do's", I think about all the really cool things I've done in my life that other people only talk about. Right now I'm focusing all that quasi-invincibility on losing weight -- nothing can stop me, not even god-awful plateaus :)

thats cool, I like how confident you sound, I believe this as well, I think fear gets in the way of our goals very often, I think people are afraid of change, how do you all deal with the fear of change?

To the 10:39 poster:
That's an easy one -- I don't have a fear of change. I have a fear of staying the same. I blame it on growing up in the suburbs. Anyway, I've been like this since I was a teenager and I'm now in my mid-30s.

smoking
When I quit smoking. I knew if I was going to take care of my body by quitting smoking I was going to have to take care of my body in every aspect. I also knew if I was going to quit smoking in the first place exercising and eating right was the catalyst to get me to quit. After all if you go out and run 5 miles and eat some grill chicken and spinach why waste all that healthy stuff by lighting up on a ciggarette. What a waste it would be too ruin a healthy evening like that. I am glad that I could use exercise and nutrition to quit smoking.
