Bald men

I have been thinking of shaving my head. Do women like bald headed men? I know this is short but I want to keep this open ended and not put any opinion of my own into the mix.

yes, bald men are attractive, personality also goes a long way, and confidence too.

Do want you want with your appearance as long as you feel good about yourself that is important and sexy!

Guys with shaved heads can be very attractive. It's like anyother hairstyle. It's going to look good on some people and downright goofy on others, but I used to date a guy who bic'd his head routinely; very attractive man. It was also entertaining to rub his head for good luck. I say give it a shot. It will grow back.

I think I speak for at least 90% of women: bald is better than a comb-over!!!

On a side note, I had a conversation with a 27yo man who had just started shaving his head due to a very actively receding hairline. He said he'd have shaved it back in college if he had known then that girls couldn't keep their hands off his smooth head.

I'm also a fan of the really short cuts, a la Matt Lauer.

I'm in my mid-30's...just thought I'm mention that since I don't know your target audience for this question.

I really don't give a hoot about a guy's hair. I've dated a guy with waist-length hair, and a couple with shaved heads, and some in between... ...any woman who is focussed on your hair is ignoring your better qualities.

some guys look great bald, others don't. to me, if a man is attractive he will look good with or without hair. hair doesn't make the man. my boyfriend had shoulder length hair when we met and now his hair is only a few centimeters long, but he's sexy as ever.
if you want to, go for it. as you can see, most women approve!

just be careful about sun exposure. You will need to wear a hat. Esp consider if you grow your hair out later in life, that would be a terrible place for a skin cancer.

As a former head-shaver, I can honestly say that it never hurt one bit when I was dating- Lots of women thought it was pretty cool- women REALLY liked touching it. That was a bonus. My wife still likes it when I shave my head in the summer. Or at least, she says she does. I get no complaints.

As for the "hat and skin cancer" post, just wear sunscreen. I used to keep a bottle of SPF 45 in my briefcase for just such emergencies. You will accidentally sunburn your head, and you will end up with the worst case of dandruff you've ever had, but that's the price of fashion...

One of the great side benefits to shaving your head is saving cash- no $30 haircuts every 4-5 weeks, no "product" to put in your hair, no shampoo needed...

I wish my husband would shave his hair off - I think it would be awesome. So yes, some of us really do like the "cue-ball" look. I noticed you didn't indicate if you're balding or just wanting a change in style - either way - it's probably worth a shot.

Weird question, but what is your head shape??? My husband has threatened to shave his head before (he has REALLY thick strawberry blonde hair). I won't let him because he has big time bumps on his head. (I can feel them when I rub his head). But, if you have a nice shaped head with no bumps, a shaved head is great!!!

I really do appreciate all the feedback. You guys are awesome! I have told a few people that I was considering shaving my head and they just reply with, "your joking right??" They know me and see me all the time. I still don't know what to think even with all this feedback. I know that sounds crazy.

I suggest getting a buzz and looking at your head shape like the other poster said... if you have a ncie head, go all the way, if you don't then you just have to wait a bit until it grows out :)

at least you'll take off a little weight if you shave your head-haha. i say go for it! it will grow back. why live in wonder of what could've been? you can purchase software that allows you to scan a photo of yourself and "try on" different hairstyles-i don't know if it shows how you might look bald, though.

Still not shaved

No, actually I grew it out. But I may shave it in the future. You see my hair has always had moments when it looks ok and sometimes when its at a certain length it looks hideous, at least to me. I just don't want to look like those men who are starting to go bald but they still have hair all around the back of their head. I am still contemplating it, but I still have a head of hair for now. Thanks for asking for an update.

What's your head shape?

I think shaved heads can be super sexy - think Jason Statham! The only caveat is that you have to have a nicely shaped head - which, unfortunately, you won't find out until AFTER you've shaved all your hair off! But, yes, women still like bald headed men so go ahead, shave your head!

I would KILL my fiance if he shaved his head! As is, I yell at him if he gets too much of a haircut; I think he looks militant that way, and I don't find that attractive at all. I like my men preppy.

Just a personal opinion. Yes, bald looks good on some men. But I would never date a man who shaved his head bald on purpose!

Yes, I know, my fiance may go bald someday. I'll love him b/c he's him. It's different if someone chooses that style vs. someone who loses his hair b/c nature says "haha!" I wouldn't date him if he wore short-sleeved buttondown shirts with a tie either. Sure, it's shallow, but it's just not a look that I like. I'd never be shallow enough to find him unattractive for a reason that he cannot control, but, shaving his head? Eww.

I just wanted to throw in another opinion. I'd been biting my tongue for awhile with this thread, but I guess the OP really wants to know what we think, whether it's positive or negative. Well, I think it's a bad idea to shave your head. Just an opinion.

I like hair of all lengths and think it's highly attractive when a man decides to get a buzz or just go bald... and yes, much sexier then the half hair/half bald, tried to comb it over looks! Besides which, as previous posters have said, it's a macho look that's hot and I love to rub a guy on his bald (or buzzed) head!

sexy, sexy. Love bald men, but love men with hair too. It really does come down to confidence and personality. Whatever makes you the most confident, bald or not, is really the definition of hot/sexy.

when I was dating my ex, he'd wanted to shave his head. I told him if he shaved it, I'd cut my hair super short- he never shaved it til the week after we broke up. Looked like a buddhist monk. It was terrible and SO NOT sexy.

I don't find bald sexy. Sure, bald is better than a hairline 8 inches above your eyebrows, but if you have hair, KEEP IT.

As my hairstylist says, if you've got it, flaunt it. Healthy hair is sexier than a shiny head.

Bald men

You sure got a lot of comments about this. I have always found bald men to be very sexy. For example, always found Sean Connery sexy when they didn't force him to wear a toup. My husband was balding when I met him and I liked it. He worried sometimes about how much hair he has lost but I never think a thing about it. I love men when they shave their heads such as Ving Rhames, Ben Kingsley, Telly Savalas, etc. It is a really cool look.

Wow!! This made its way back up to the top of the discussion list again. Just want to give you an update. I shaved it, and I really like it this way better. Some women have told me they like it while others said I had the most gorgeous hair, but to me it wasn't anything great. I feel more sexy and confident without it then with it so I guess thats all that matters. I am keeping the look. Thanks ladies for all your help.

Shaved looks good on some men and daft on others, like any other haircut. What I will say though is that men who are thinning on top should keep their hair short (think Sean Connery) rather than longer and wispy or- God forbid- combed over (Donald Trump, I'm looking at you).

I'm getting close to doing this myself as a necessity. I'm rapidly losing my hair and right now I have the Matt Lauer haircut. However, it makes me insecure because my hair/lack of hair looks totally different in different lights and angles.

I think I would feel better if I was just bald all the time.

Question: Should a guy go really, really short with clippers or should he shave it all the way down with a razor?

Buzz with Clippers verses Shave with Razor

I can understand your insecurity. I am 29 and I was thinning throughout my 20’s. I tried various haircuts to deal with it, the Matt Lauer haircut, even a “caesar” at one point, and I felt insecure with all of them - after a while I just couldn't deal with it so I decided to shave it all off. The complete shave (with a razor) did not look good on me. Even though I have olive skin, I think it only looks good on really dark skin (e.g. black men). However, the buzzed look worked much better for me. This is what I would recommend for you as well. Buy a professional clipper and buz your head at different lengths... it all depends on how much you are thinning - the less hair you have the shorter you should go.... try a 3, 2 or 1. But, definitely use a clipper - do not shave it completely bald unless you're black!

As far as the ladies are concerned - it truly is all about confidence and personality. No matter how you look or how much hair you have, as a man you still have to make the first move and it is the way you come across that will determine the girl's reaction. The way you talk, what you say, how you dress will all influence their opinion of you.

I couldn't say that I had more or less success with any particular hairstyle, however I can tell you that I have no problems attracting women with a very short buzzed haircut.

Length of hair is such an individual choice. My ex went from the Michael Bolton (when it wass long) look to clipping it short to bald. He has acouple bumps and bald is better for him. Look down a list of movie stars: Brad Pitt, better with medium hair, Yul Brynner and Sean Connery are better bald, so is Telly Savalas. How do you think George Clooney, Mat Dammon, Antonio Banderas or Ben Affleck would look bald? I believe that for a man to take the incentive to cut it off, shows courage, no matter how it looks. To try different things shows creativity, willingness to change and to improve one self.
I am glad to see that you decided to give it a go. If it didnt work out, most of the time hair grows back. At least now you know what you would look like and what the responses will be.

Shaving

So its an interesting question. I started losing my hair right after high school/in college and it was pretty traumatic. It would be traumatic to anybody but I had previously had very thick curly hair that along with my blue eyes that was somewhat a part of my identity and why I thought women found me attractive. That in fact was only part of the story - what I most often heard was that I was confident and very funny. But the hair was it for me. At some point it got where I had to keep it short because it was rapidly disappearing into a curly ring. The crew cuts were good and I dated plenty but when I took out a mirror and looked at the BACK of my head I realized I was still very obviously bald. So about 6 months ago I shaved the whole thing with a razor, trimmed my facial hair down to a small chin beard and literally overnight, everything changed. Its a dramatic and confident look so you can't help but notice all the attention you get from women and men of all ages. Its accepted now so you don't have that skinhead/military connotation or drug addict or whatever. Women chat me up in the supermarket, Starbucks, etc - even with a close crew cut I didn't get that! I would recommend any man with thinning hair give it a try. It DOES feel weird a first and it takes a few weeks to both adjust yourself and have others around you adjust but once they do?? You'll never want to go back!

it doesn't matter if the person is getting BALD or is bald, the most important thing is the person personallity, NOT THE LOOK!!! PERSONALITY ALWAYS BEATS THE BEAUTY!!! some guys with a lot of hair has a shitty personality. i not saying that person w/ hair has bad personality.

THIS IS ADVICE FOR WOMEN:
do never go out with a person that is HOT, go out with a person that has a personality bc personality is the beauty. go out with a person that can make u feel special, that understands u, that listen to u, cares about u, supports u, loves u for who u r, not the physical.

Bald men are very talented, lovely, caring, educated, great personality, n that goes to people that have hair too!

TIPS FOR GUYS:
IF a girl wants a boy that is sexy n full of hair, hates bald men.... those types of girls r full of shit, those girl doesn't derserve to be with!!!

SO BE WHO U R, NOT WORRY ABOUT THE LOOK, BC PERSONALITY IS BETTER THAN THE LOOK.

IF WOMEN DENY THAT, THEN THEY R FULL OF SHIT!!!

THE IMPORTANT THING IS PERSONALITY, NOT THE LOOK!!!:D

cant understand these comments

I decided to shave my head after fighting the youthful "having hair look" with wigs & hats to cover for decades. Even though I have a face like George Clooney, not having hair, just does not match my face. I feel much less attractive bald, no matter what anyone else says. I do not have women telling me that I am as attractive as I did when I wore a wig or my hat. I had a woman tell me to remove my hat one time about 10 years ago & she said it aged me 15 years. No one is rubbing my head or giving me oohs & ahhs over a bald scalp. I think the majority of women would love a guy with hair over a round bald head. To say that its fashionable is nonsensical. It is the same as having bare light bulbs in your home vs. ones with lamp shades. It is boring & old looking period. The men that are in the movies are super confident macho to the max dudes who dont have to rely on hair to get a woman. The average joe guy bald, is just that plain average & even handsome guys like me, drop to average. If you put George Clooney in the movies skin bald, he would be a nobody & he would not get the kind of roles he had in ER etc.& I am sure that if he shaved off all that gorgeous thick hair of his, his fans would be totally pissed.
