How to get rid of fat inner thighs?

This is a huge problem area for me, and I feel like I could excercise everything else off, but the inner thighs would stay because I never feel them being targeted in my workouts. Does anyone have any tips, products, excercises that they could suggest that have worked for them? I always have the problem of wearing skirts without pantyhose and my thighs rubbing together until it they get irritated and hurt. Sometimes I just wish I could put on a skirt without pantyhose. Also, a lot of my pants are getting worn out with holes in that area after a while. Please is there anything I can do because I'm seriously considering getting them liposculptured, but I'm hoping there's another way! Thanks for your imput!

running

Running has always kept my legs very fit.

However, is this a case of bad genes? Is this your only "trouble" spot? If so, its going to be a hard area to entirely perfect. Everyone that I know that has tried lipo ends up with all or most of the fat deposits back within 3 years.

Thanks for commenting!
Yes, this is pretty much my only trouble spot, I'm working out and toning the rest and it seems to be working. That's interesting that lipo hasn't worked for them, but maybe they didn't keep it up after they had it done? I may try running, if that works, but I really hate it (not a lot of fun, and hard on the body). I do a lot of dance almost every day and it hasn't really helped with that area either. I'm thinking I need to specifically target the inner thighs, anyone try the thigh master, or is that bs?
Anyone else have any suggestions?

Theoretically, the thigh master might work, but if you a have a gym membership, you might be better off using the thigh press. Then you can both use your thighs to squeeze and push, working inside and outside. The exercises will help, but I'm not sure if the thighmaster itself is good. Never tried it.

Also, one thing to think about. If you're toning up and losing fat everywhere but the thighs, maybe that's the area where your body naturally wants to store fat? I don't know that liposuction like this is something that you can "keep up with." Even if you get lipo, and continue with a healthy diet and exercise, your body may still build up that store of fat.

do lunges- a lot of them!

Do you do lunges? Lunges are such an amazing exercise, that if you do them right you can see great results. I have this inner thigh problem too, and I understand the "chub rub" of wearing skirts and dresses, its no fund at the end of the day or night. I recently saw a tv ad for a product that is supposed to help chafing that was Monistat brand, try checking that out in the meantime, I am going to as well!

I think that someone else posted a 'Body Map' on one of the threads. I would check it out. You can click on an area and it will give you several different exercises to train it. The link is below and it has been really helpful. Good luck!

Chafing?

Try the Brave Soldier products... AMAZING! I'm a total convert. Can't get enough! My old roommate was one of their reps to Fred Segal and she got me HOOKED!

If you don't like the high-maintenance stuff, REI makes a waterproof chafing product too that sells in their bike shop. All the life guards use it to protect valuable assets, lol.

I do squats and I use the Thighmaster. So far, I can see that my legs have toned up and taken a different shape but as far as that inner thigh fat, I still have it and it also has always been a problem for me. I was a runner and I have a very thin body build but that area has always been a problem. I would say go ahead and try the Thighmaster because it does in fact work the muscles, it works like isometrics in the fact that it is a sort of resistance thus making your muscles contract and work.

i've bought the monistat chub rub stuff. it works really well... it's a powdery gel that dries quickly... it's good to use while working that inner thigh chunk off! it's also cheaper than body glide, that i don't have to waste on skirt days and save for my runs.

Another thing that works really well for me, and I've always had bigger thighs.... buy one of those small rubber balls that kids buy for like $2 - the smaller versions of the old yellow kick balls work great. Every evening, when you're watching tv, reading, whatever, place the ball at different locations between the thighs... about the knee and mid-thigh are the 2 places I target. Then squeeze, hold, release, repeat. I do several hundred of these each night, without moving from the couch, and it has helped. I'm also very active with other workouts, but it wasn't until I started this that the inner thigh toned. My husband looks at me like I've lost my mind, but it works!

i have always had thighs that rub, no matter how thin i was. i don't know that they will ever go away, but i have been able to tone them. i jog about 4 times a week, and i do weights 3 times a week. i do the thigh exercises at the gym, the ones where you push in and pull out. i also do the seated leg press or squats. that really tones them. and lunges, as mentioned, are great if you dont have gym equipment. if it is your trouble spot, it won't just go away with little changes. i have made drastic changes and lost 24 pounds and am at my goal, but mine still rub.

also, the running skirt is great (target has a good one) or i wear bike shorts/ compression shorts under my reg, shorts.

Inner Thigh Fat

Try Getting A small excercise ball. Then put it where your inner thighs need work. Now squeeze your inner thigh to the ball. Bend your knees, and start doing crunches while still squeezing the ball. This worked on me!

I thought that targeting any one area didn't really work. I hear a lot of people mention this when other ask about getting rid of belly fat. Is getting rid of belly fat and inner thigh fat different?

Recently bought a firming cream. Have been using it on my inner thigh daily for few days and skin feels tighter. Don't know if this is effective long-term or a temporary hoax. Will keep you posted after finishing the jar.

Buzzard, you can't target weight loss or fat burning, but you can tone specific muscles or muscle groups, which helps. Since the belly area often carries a lot of fat, increasing muscle tone won't do much if it's hidden behind the flab! Toning up the leg muscles probably makes more of a difference, since the muscles there are larger. I think.

My thighs rub a bit, but I think it's partly because I have narrow hips! No exercises to help that :o(

3:46,
Well that makes sense when you put it that way:-)
I guess the fat to muscle ratio IS a lot more in the belly area than the thighs or say the biceps.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. A year and a half ago I had super model legs. My thighs were thin I am tall so they are very long. I loved them but over time they started getting bigger the only place on my legs that isn't skinny is the inner thigh and I want to know how to fix that and get my old legs back without getting big muscley legs.

i like u had BIG thighs, but now i can actually bend over and see through them. i used the system stripthatfat & lost 45 lbs. I wrote a review type article on some of the dangers of cutting out carbs & weight loss, If you want to read it you can find it here at squidoo.com/NotoLowCarbDiets. As far as excersizing goes, I have found that walking is the best ever, start out 15 min a day at a very fast pace and increase the amount of time weekly. But, make sure you warm up 1st and then cool down afterwards.

jiggly thighs

this thread has been going on since 2005. anyone got any progress?

my problem is is that i grew up not playing sports or exercising. i'm 28 now. female. 5'3. 130lbs. i look average (thin) but i have a huge butt and huge thighs.

i actually don't have a problem with the hugeness. i just don't like that they're jiggly and cellulitey :( everyone's who's complaining about the hugeness of their things is probably nothing compared to mine.

i just want mine to be firm and lean. so i just recently started walking/running on the treadmill, biking, and doing the elliptical hoping that if i do all this at least 4 times a week and consistently, i'd get results within 3 months. that's my goal, 3 months.

i don't care if they become muscular, i just want the jiggle to go away.

so, yeah, if anyone who posted here has seen changes so far, please share.

thanks!

The BEST Inner thigh excercises are from this guy

This guy has a few fantastic and easy inner thigh excercises. I have always had inner thigh problem and as i get older its worse. I hadnt done these excercises for a few years and my inner thighs were pretty flabby, but this last year I started these excercises again and i noticed a major difference.

I feel like I can actually wear shorts again! this excercise can even be done on your bed, no matter what tho, you will feel the burn and you know its working. I do fifty reps per leg as many days a week as I can. honestly they work, try them for two months and please let me know if they helped you :))

I came across this thread, by google, and so far I've read a lot of things that sound like me, along with some great idea to get rid of thigh fat. I plan on starting to work out Monday (May 10th '10), hopefully.
I also plan to buy a good amount of fruits and vegetables along with some pasta. Now before you say "Pasta?!, but that will not help you".... let me say, the pasta can be found with low-carb and calories, or high fiber, one has nori(seaweed) powder for increased calcium and iron, or a tofu one for more calcium. There are also health benefits of eating the pasta: 1) Decreased blood cholesterol levels. 2) Possible reduced risk of heart disease. 3) May reduce risk of some types of cancer. 4) May reduce risk of coronary heart disease.
I would suggest to drink green tea since it does help in weight lose. It DOES help you burn calories. The link at the bottom of my post will be where this quote came from AND a place you can see 6 Asian foods(which I know work, since I've bought some before, to sample, and I've lost a little bit of weight with that so that's why I plan to buy more). "In general, a person who drinks five cups of green tea a day could burn about 70-80 calories a day. According to this green tea site "According to the research, if a person were to change nothing outside of adding five cups of green tea to their diet per day, then over the course of 43 days one could expect to lose 1 pound. Over the period of one year, one could expect a loss of about 8 pounds." " I know it's not a lot of weight being dropped at once with the green tea, but it will still help plus it has a lot of health benefits: 1) Fights cancer. 2) Fights rheumatoid arthritis. 3) Combats high cholesterol levels. 4) Reduces risk of cardiovascular disease. 5) Wards off infection. 6) Boosts immune system.

Also if you have any questions about the site(Asianfoodgrocer.com), feel free to email me at MysticalRaven22@gmail.com

THIES: the noisy truble area

I am 5'2" and waigh 130 (NOW! Was 170) my problem area has ALWAYS been my thies and knees. I tried walking (3miles a day 5 days a week), the thie master, and built up to 70 squats a day (5 x a week) and only mannaged to get a great (lifted and firm) butt! I finally started seeing my thies get smaller and less "fat over the muscle" when I started running! I HATE running! I am almost 50 and hve never had good endurance (even when I looked like a pro body builder in my 20's!). So what I started doing was to sprint 100 yards 5 times with 25 yard walks inbetween. IT WORKED!! Thies down from 27" to 22"! Still bigger than. Ideal, but I will be wearing cords again with out the zip, zip, zip sound as I walk! Good luck!

ive had inner thigh rubbing all my life so ive tried alot of products to stop chub rub. my favorite product for walking is secret shield from skindura its hard to find but heres a link www.skindura.etsy.com . this stuff feels awesome and it's 100% veggie derived. I put it on once and it lasted all day walking around a flea market in a sun dress. If your a runner i think bodyglide is good but when you take a break and walk it pulls at the thigh skin a bit, at least it did on me.

ankle weights

This is cheap and simple go to walmart and get some ankle weights nothing too heavy. Lay on the floor on your side legs parellel right leg straight on the floor left leg bent and shoe on the floor right arm underneath you like a side plank and left arm in front of you for support. Take your right leg and and just go up and down maybe two reps of 8 to 10. Then take the right leg and go in circles inward and outward due that once. Turn over and do ther other side this really works you don't have to use the weights to do this either but if you want to see more definition then get the weights hope this helps.

inner thighs

I'm 5'8 5/8'' I used to weigh 205. I started working out in fall of 07 with yoga and weight training for 3 days a week. Then I went to the gym for 8 weeks in 08 about every other day I got down to about 175 . I've used the thighmaster, that bulked up my legs, I didn't want that. So I used the Rock 'n' Roll stepper. That helped slim my legs down and then I was weighing 169. Over all I looked better but my inner thighs are still big. This past year since April I've been working out just about everyday for a minimum of 45 mins. My legs are looking better but I still have a little access fat all around from when I was heavier. I still have a little chub rub at 155. Been using leg and thigh workout DVD'S alternating them with other cardio equipment and weights. Now, I'm using strength training along with cardio. So far I'm getting tonned all over which is good but those darn thighs....

According to Dr. Joel Fuhrman

At 5' 3" you can still lose about 20 pounds for how tall you are.
95 lbs for the first 5 feet and 4 after that per in. This is the ideal weight that shows the most health and longevity. Do this by following Eat To Live.

You will be healthier. Your body will clean up and change out those fat cells for health. Combine Dr. Fuhrman's Health formula and add Teresa Tapp's Exercises for a body like a dancer, not a muscle bound more masculine body. You will be the best graceful and healthy person and an inspiration to everyone you know.
Join the Fuhrman network and really learn.
I don't get a thing from either entity for tellling you this. I am just passionate about the nutritional and fitness science based TRUTH!
So, don't worry about your thighs...there is still real weight to lose and they will then be the thighs you want.

5 feet tall and 95lbs?!?! Your bmi would be 18.6, right at the bottom of what is considered a healyh bmi. We must remember that a healthy bmi is anywhere from 18.5 to 24.9 and your number on the scale is not the only number to consider when trying to get healthy. Weight, BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol, wasitline inches, and so on are all factors on the road to being healthy. As for the fat loss around your thighs the key to any sort of fat loss is cardio cardio cardio! You can do all the weight lifting you want, but its just going to build muscle underneath your fat deposits. Running is ideal, because it encourages long lean muscles; however it is very hard on your joints. Cycling is amazing because it is low impact. Contrary to popular opinion cycling does not automatically beef up your legs unless you are doing a lot of hill climbing in high gears. Try some medium intensity riding on flat land and you will really feel your cardio working pushing your quads and hamstrings for an amazing workout. Trust me I am married to a bike mechanic and we are avd cyclists! I hope this helps anyone who reads in their journey to a healthy lifestyle. Pair this up with a clean diet, which is one thing i did agree with about the previous post, and you will be set for a long healthy life.

Feel the burn- inner thighs

Hello I am in the same boat as you I have a problem with the inner thigh, but I have found something that targets that area and you can feel it working. Stand with you legs shoulder width apart. Start vigorously shakeing your thighs as fast as you can, do not lift your feet off the floor. You will soon start feeling the burn in your inner thighs. I do this until it hurts then I have a 3 min break then repeat. I do 4 reps every other day and Iv noticed a big difference. Try it and let me know what you think. I hope this helps. X :)

How to get rid of fat inner thighs?

As a Womens only PT and through my 20 years of experience, I will tell you that IF your inner thighs are the major problem area in your body as in Spot Fat, then LIPO might be the best permanent solution though few PTs will admit to this... Doing tons of lunges will definitely tone and firm your legs as they're a great lower body exercise for losing weight BUT doing also tons of lunges will aid in fat loss not only in your lower body region but to the rest of your body as well. Because women lose weight from the upper body down (hips and thighs will be the last place to lose) they tend to also lose weight from their breasts...If this is something that is not of a concern to you then by all means try lunges as they are the best exercise especially for women for losing fat and give you an awesome pair of great legs and hips!! If your breasts are already of a small size then expect an every greater loss once you follow a clean diet and you do lunges regularly. Most of my clients who were small breasted lost the weight first on their breasts and then on the rest of their body.
As for Liposuction, finding a good plastic surgeon is very important. Liposuction will shrink the fat cells in the specific problem area and you wont gain weight in that area should you ever regain the weight; IF you do gain fat again most likely the fat will accumulate in other areas of your body which you never gained before....Liposuction is only appropriate IF you stick to a clean diet and maintain your weight. Consult with a reputable doctor and weigh out your options carefully :)

You can get rid of arm fat!

Great post!
I had big problems with arm fat, and applying a simple method I managed to lose almost 2 inches of my arms and almost 70 pounds in 4 and half months: an easy cleanse with lemon water, special foods and exercises that burn fat all day! I worked a little more on my arms! The same system can be applied for your thighs, and in my opinion, with faster results.
