i have not taken my own progress pix (yet!), however, i can tell you that seeing other peoples' "before/after" pix is a huge motivating factor in my journey!

OP here

took my first ever before pictures last night, I'm doing a 4 week program so at the end of each week I'm going to take a new picture.

Progress pictures are a great idea. The less clothes you have on the better so you can really see the difference in your body. If you are like me, you don't notice it much day to day, but when I see my progress pictures I'm really pleased with the results.
In my progress pictures I wear the same bra and shorts and stand in the same area of my house and have my hubby take my picture.

i really really wish i had taken an official "before" shot, but more than that i REALLY wish i had gotten my body fat tested and had a blood test to get official cholesterol numbers before i did anything. That would've been interesting i'm sure.

Crazy but...

I actually grab at my belly fat in the mirror. When the handful gets smaller, I notice!

I did see some WAY BEFORE pictures when visiting family recently. OMG was I huuuuuge. Definitely motivating.

I don't know how much I weighed at the time, but I carry around in my wallet a picture of me in my bikini back in 2003. I was huge. It inspires me to never want to get back to that.

I haven't purposefully taken progress pics like some posters describe (although I wish I had), but I do have lots of photos of myself at various stages and even though it wasn't that much weight the difference is quite dramatic! I am glad I have them - it was a 'fat' photo that helped me kick it in the pants and lose weight and it's the 'skinny' photos that help me stick to it!

I have taken progression pictures, 1st one was after a couple lbs had been lost but decided to take it anyway. Then the next one was when I lost my first 10 lbs. The problem is I don't see a huge difference. I am trying to tell myself it is 10 lbs while that is a big number, it is not a huge difference in the total amount that I have to lose. I feel alot stronger, I know that some of my clothes are fitting a little better, but if I didn't feel stronger and was only looking at the picture I would feel a little depressed. I have only gotten 1 mention from a coworker that they thought I was losing weight. I think that the other people see me everyday so they don't notice it as easily either. I am hoping though that after the first 20 I will be able to see a good difference between the 1st picture, once I get a little more confidence I will post so all can see but right now, no way!!!!! It does help in some ways because I look at it and say there is no way I can let myself look like this, this is not healthy....

bikini girl here

i was in a foreign country when i was huge and wearing a bikini and getting pictures taken of me in a bikini. you know the saying "when in rome..." it's basically a sin to wear a one-piece suit on the beaches of rio. i'd never wear a bikini in the u.s. with this bod. or maybe that's not entirely true. i'm very content with my body, especially now after dropping 55 pounds.
