Did you try something this year that you didn't think you could do or were afraid to do or haven't done because you haven't got around to it?

yeah, I started respecting myself, and not letting men define my life.

I ran a 5k (3.1 miles) without stopping. Now I feel like if I can do that, I can do anything.

i stopped talking to my brother because he berates me, mocks me, and generally verbally abuses me. and he has for about 25 years. i feel completely liberated and full of self-respect. instead of putting my mother's wishes first, i put myself first, and i have never been so happy! (sad, but also very good!)

Yeah I finally started my diet. I've been meaning to lose weight for years and just never had the motivation to really stick with it.

7 months and 25 lbs later I'm very happy I finally found my motivation and have stuck to it.

This is the 12:39 poster - I'm probably 20 pounds overweight. We're not going to be wearing costumes for the class, so I'll be in my standard shorts and a baggy t-shirt, so I'll have less to be self-conscious about.

Finally rode a bike for the first time in 20 years (since I was a kid). I was too afraid of falling off. My hubby helped me like I was a 5 year old just getting her training wheels off. ;-)

Lots of changes

I moved to the USA to take on a job in a field I knew nothing about. I met a wonderful man, and moved in with him after 6 weeks - something I've never done before (living with someone). When he asked me to marry him, I said yes - something I NEVER thought I would do. I'm becoming a stepmom, something I never even considered. And I'm focusing on my health, which I've never really done before. All in all, a year of big changes. Yeeeeeha!

I learned to jump really big fences (on horseback). Until last summer, I was stuck jumping little fences, not more than 2'6" usually. Now I do 3'6" and 3'9" fences all the time. I know I could do 4' on the right horse. It can be scary, but it's so fun!

25 mile bike-a-thon doesn't seem like much now, but at one point 25 miles seemed insane!

I quit smoking and started exercising. I've never felt better, physically and mentally! I've ran a few races this summer and have a 10k planned for the end of September. I also signed up for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and pottery class! Trying lot's of new things this year (and last) that I never would have dreamed of because I was so afraid of trying new things and meeting new people.

I got over my gym phobia and started going nearly every single day. I have really begun to enjoy the variety of activities I can do there and am so much more focused on my physical health than just my weight.

I realized my major in college wasn't working for me (at my senior year!!) and decided to get the degree and go after another one in something I really want to do. It'll take another 2 1/2 years, but it'll be worth it to love my job. And the other degree that I realized was wrong will actually boost the status of the new one.

I also went on a shark dive last summer with blue and maco sharks. FUN!! Totally want to do it again with other species of sharks!! :)
