HELP!! I AM DOING IT... AGAIN
Seems that whenever I make it to a significant amount of wt loss (currently 54# in 8 months) I find myself doing "stuff" to reverse this success :-( It's like I'm scared to actually "make it". I've got 150# more to get rid of and then the new me will be here for the 1st time in my 58 years!!

Try not to think about it! Just don't worry about your outer self. You are doing this for your health. I might try and not weigh myself. Stop obsessing. Write ! Make a phone call. Don't judge yourself by your past. Today is a new day and a new you! You never had Peer Trainer. I never got down to my goal either but it doesn't matter how or why I didn't today is a new day and a new me. I am sure everytime you tried along the 58 years you learned something Dont Give UP!

Just keep pluggin along. Like the other poster said, you're doing this for your health. Think about the improvements you've already made--losing 50+ pounds already! That is awesome! I'm sure you've made some new healthy habits (healther food choices, changes in lifestyle, more exercise). Don't judge yourself based upon how far you have yet to go, look at how far you've come already! Each day just try to make good choices. If you make poor choices, then start over. This is LIFE! None of us are perfect, none of us can walk the straight line all the time every day, and why would we want to? We need to be able to allow ourselves some leeway without getting carried or feeling guilt-ridden. Try to develop a plan and follow it the best you can. Just be reasonable and patien with yourself! Good luck!!!

This happens to a lot of people, you're not alone. You have come so far! Try something new to keep yourself going -- buy a low fat cookbook or join a new class. You can do it!

WHY do you suppose we do this???? I still feel the same as before the 50 # in that I have such a looooooooooonnnggg way to go!! Yes, keeping busy helps and I even tried the SEATTLE SUTTON HEALTHY EATING meals, but YUK !! & pricey, too...so back to doing it myself, just like I know to do. (6X a day@ 2oz each carb & protein) Hey it worked for 50#, why not 150 more RIGHT :-) CP

I wonder if there's any research on this phenomenon, because it seems like anyone with a significant amount of weight to lose experiences this. If I understood it, I'd have reached my goal weight 4 years ago instead of pulling this yo-yo nonsense.
To the OP -- if dieting is just too hard for you right now (and we all have those moments), can you concentrate on maintaining? Or maybe take the focus off of losing weight and put it onto, say, training to walk a 10K race or something like that? If that's not enough motivation, try to find one of these funny races that my sister used to participate in with other people's grandparents when she was a teenager - you run/walk as a 2-person team, and you are categorized by totalled age (so a 16yo and a 68yo would run in the 80-89 category). The results are always wacky and fun. Maybe someone in your support network could help you with something like this?
And by the way, FANTASTIC JOB on losing 54 lbs in 8 months. I hope you don't backslide because you've come a very long way. You're setting an example for everyone around you, trust me.

To the 9/8 11:49 AM poster and anyone else.....
Sounds like the recipes I posted in the wiki will be right up you're alley - they are for the most part equal carbs and protein and designed to eat 6 of them a day coming out to 1400 calories/day. Do a search on "BFL" and then click on the tag "BFL 1400/day recipes".
Good Luck!
PS Funny you didn't care for Seattle Sutton - I own two distributorships and have been eating it for over 2 years now! Even I take a break from it now and then, though!!!
Blozzom :-)

Your asking your self why? maybe break it down, are you going back to the same old habit(s). It's so hard to break a habit expecially if we are focusing on lots of bad habits at once. pick your worst habit & work on breaking it for 6 wks, the amount of time it takes to break a habit. But disect it & come up w/healthy alternatives & ideas to avoid the bad to change it for good.
