Eating before a workout?

Should you eat before or after a workout? I notice some people on my teams have carbs before the workout and protein after? I do my workout first thing in the morning when I get up.

As long as you have energy to do your workout and assuming it's under an hour, then working out first thing in the morning before eating is great! Personally, if I tried to workout first thing in the morning without eating, I'd be a slug curled up in the corner of the gym and that obviously wouldn't be at all helpful, so I eat before I work out. As for post-work out eating, it's good to have carbs right away to help repair and stregnthen muscles that have broken down and need repair. And, of course, lots of water.
