Can sugar do this?
I have a problem and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.
I've noticed a correlation when I drink something sugary I experience a painful and nauseating sensation in my stomach. The nausea is so bad that I can't even think about eating anything to try and alleviate the pain for hours afterwards. This has been going on for at least 2 weeks I've cut out all liquids except water and black coffee, but I'm still in pain.
The easy solution of course would to not drink anything sugary, but I've done that. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced anything like this before and could shed some light on this mysterious occurrence.... and BTW- I'm 100% sure that I'm not pregnant for all those who are jumping to that conclusion- sorry.

GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree
You REALLY need to call your doctor. Today. Make an appointment before you end up having to call the paramedics in the middle of the night because the pain is so bad you can't move.
I was with a friend driving late at night in an unfamiliar part of the Bay Area when she began having severe pains and we had to pull over. I ended up taking her to the first hospital I could find and had to watch her curled up in a ball crying. Shortly before this, she had eaten a piece of chocolate cake, washed down with hot chocolate.
She ended up having emergency surgery to have her gall bladder removed. She had been "avoiding" dealing with the pain for quite some time. It was the first I had learned of it. If she had taken care of it earlier, the stones probably could have been removed WITHOUT leaving a big, ugly scar and a long recovery. CALL YOUR DOCTOR PLEASE.

Not me personally, but a good friend certainly did - turned out she had an ulcer and by the time she went to the doctor it was bleeding and she had to go on a really restrictive diet and make a lot of lifestyle changes. Since liquids are absorbed through the stomach wall they were very irritating. Please consider seeing a doctor - it might just be indigestion, but it might not be and it's ALWAYS better to treat something if it's caught early so that there are more treatment options and more time.

OP
Thank you-- making the appt now... never though of the possibilities of gallstones, but now that you mention it I do have family history of them. Thanks!

Yup, my grandmother had the same sort of thing going on but for much longer. We finally had to make her go to the doctor and sure enough she had to have her gall bladder removed. Had she talked to her doctor long before then like we begged her to she wouldn't have had to go through so much pain or a surgery.
