OT - prayers please
Every prayer is needed. Me and my husband's best friend in the whole world's house burnt down yesterday. Him, his girlfriend, his two kids, and his roommate were inside. The roommate and 6 year old daughter are fine but the girlfriend and 8 year old son are in the ICU with smoke inhalation injuries, and Brian was life-flighted to the burn unit at a neighboring town's hospital with severe burns to his lungs. Please pray for this family. Thank you.

My prayers are with you and your friends family. Do you mind sharing what caused the fire?

They aren't exactly sure but it was an electrical fire that started in an outlet in the living room but nothing was plugged into that outlet at that time???
None of the smoke detectors were working at the time and the family was very lucky with the timing that their morning alarm went off and woke them up in time.

How scary! My friend lost his apartment when some kids downstairs were playing with a lighter, lit the bedspread on fire and decided to hide it by putting laundry on top of it. The dad was at work, the mom walked to the grocery store, the kids were 6 and 4. The fire took out six units. Luckily no one was hurt. I will say a prayer for your friends. Keep us updated.

Fire and smoke inhalation are very dangerous and the resulting burns can be very painful--my brother in law was burned over 40% of his body and it took a while for him to heal up....
My prayers go out to your friends and their family....Hopefully they are under the care of some good docs and they will get better soon. Belongings are replaceable... They are indeed lucky to have had their lives saved by their morning alarm clock.....
I will pray for their well being and quick recovery.

Update:
Leslie was released from the hospital on Saturday morning, Tyler (the 9 year old little boy) will most likely be released today. Brian is doing better even though he is still sedated and on the ventillator/respirator. His color is much better and they scoped his lungs this weekend and were able to get a lot of junk out of his lungs, now when they do the chest x-ray they can actually see some areas of pink in his lungs. They have upgraded his condition and think he'll be in the hospital a month for treatment, the origial estimates were 2-3 months, possibly 4.

Glad to hear that things are improving-- I hear that the burns WITHIN the lungs can be far more painful than the ones elsewhere.
Keep up the positive energy towards your friends. Hopefully they will be home soon!
