Favorite Exercise
Hey Everyone!!
What's your favorite exercise to do? What do you think is most effective?
I'd love to hear from everyone else so I can come up with some ideas to add variety to my routine. :)

PUSH UPS!

I LOVE step aerobics and hi-lo cardio - I love the dance-like moves and the music, too.

I love the elliptical because I can go as fast as I want to while I listen to my most aggressive music and not feel the impact.
I love the treadmill for cruising and zoning out.
I love pilates for the incredible strength and stability I gain from it (especially abs and posture).
They all have their place in my routine. :-)

SURFING!! :)
I'm learning to love running too (it's a love-hate relationship at this point!! LOL)

I LOVE KICKBOXING!!! It leaves me feeling energized and powerful... It helps me get out all of my aggression and leaves me feeling like I've just had the best workout of my life!

Power Yoga in a yoga studio - for some reason it's just not the same at home. I feel soooo re-freshed and relaxed, ready to face the day, after a nice, sweaty yoga workout!!!

Dance Dance Revolution
I love DDR; it's fun and exercise rolled into one. It's a Japanese video game that is played on a playstation2 or x-box and involves dance, music and reflexes. I read an article in Women's Weekly about people who lost weight using it and I can see why. It's so much fun, one keeps going longer.

Hiking! I adore hiking. Fortunately I live near close enough to the mountains that I can be on the trail in 20 minutes, but I've been known to drive quite a ways for a moderately steep trail with sweeping views and a waterfall or an alpine lake near the top. I never feel more alive or connected with the universe than I do while hiking.

Running is the best cardio I have found. If I am in shape to run, I can do any other activity without getting winded. Swimming though also adds a different challenge because it uses your arms so much more.

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead, but I didn't want to start a new thread on the same subject, but I just had to find a reason to say how much I love swimming.
My fave: lap swimming. It's just you. It's hard to listen to music in the pool and swim freestyle. It's hard to keep track of your laps if you're thinking of other things. So personally, it's stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke, breathe, stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke, breathe, over and over again until you kick off the wall. I hate math, but the simplicity of just numbers and stroke, and breathe is sooooooo theraputic for me. No time or space for distractions. Plus, as you glide through the water, you just feel the tension left behind.
