Blogs with anonymous posts

What is the point of posting in a blog if nobody knows who it was posted by? Surely the administrators of Peertrainer, can link a post to a username, just makes no sense trying to build a community when you don't know who said what. Would be interesting to hear what the other Peer Trainers think (oh and please add your username, otherwise we don't know who you are, thank you)

What's the point of this post? you're obviously new and haven't gotten help from this being anonymous, but I have. PT, hope you ignore Purdey.

i think people really enjoy the anonymity of PT. there are certainly some places where your identity is posted, but in the community section anyway, I personally enjoy being able to say whatever i am feeling/thinking without the fear of being personally prosecuted.

And what would be the point of knowing who wrote the posting? So you know whose public log to flame? There are some nasty and unhelpful people on here (there's gotta be a few snotty know-it-alls in every crowd, e.g. "cow's milk is for baby cows" girl and let's not forget the snippy "search your subject first before starting a new thread" bee-in-bonnet girl) who take it to an unpleasant level, but it's worth putting up with those types to have anonymous access to this forum.

My point was a valid one otherwise I would not have raised it...to the person who replied first I do not appreciate your remarks i.e. PT ignore Purdey! For the record I am not new and have always wondered why the forums were anonymous, hence my question in the first place!

The Powers that Be at PT explain their position on this in at least one previous thread (no, I'm not the "bee-in-bonnet girl") - most people want the anonymity to discuss their problems. Not everyone is comfortable asking for help with constipation, for example, or offering up their personal experiences with something and having their name attached to it. Bear in mind that this site invites groups of friends and co-workers to join.

I agree with the OP that it's a valid question. I also agree with the person that said bear in mind, people invite friends and co-workers to join. I for one am glad that I can ask things here. Even though my username can't identify me, I still don't even want them to know that I'm asking questions about personal s**t.

i've been on PeerTrainer for a year now and this question comes up every few months and has been debated quite a bit. The point is that our struggles with weight are very personal and many people wouldn't be able to post honestly if they thought their identity was linked with the post. there are plenty of opportunities to build relationships with people in groups and teams and if you really like what somebody is saying you can ask who they are and ask them to join your group or team. But the anonymity of posting in the Community page is well thought out and not likely to change anytime soon.

Thank you for your comments posted at 5:04, I spend a lot of time on various community sites and its the first time I came across a "community" site where the posts werepublished anonymously - if this is a Peer Trainer ruling, good and well, was just needing some clarity on this. That first snide remark really threw me, did not anticipate a reply like that - what happened to freedom of speech? - its obvious that there are some nasty little characters on here along with the good, I am going to email the moderators myself and ask them to delete this post if I don't figure it out myself lol, As far as I am concerned this post is now closed and shut for further discussion.

I think the first comment was a direct response to the tone of your original post. The tone of your post was rather rude, as well. Perhaps you didn't mean it to come across that way, but I was rather taken aback by your tone to start with.

My apologies if it sounded rude. I run a community site myself where great friendships are being built daily, and the whole anonymouse thing just puzzled me, unfortunately the tone of my post might have come across harshly, was not my intention.
