VOTE and VOTE REPUBLICAN NEXT WEEK

-Democrats will raise your taxes. That is what they do.

-Democrats and Liberals view global threats as something to be ignored. Or worse, something that we have coming to us or is our fault. We, for all our faults, are the GOOD GUYS. Lets not stop reminding ourselves of that.

Its pretty basic, Republicans lower your taxes and want to kill the bad guys. Democrats side with the bad guys.

When we start a war for questionable reasons and lead a country to near civil war, you have to understand why we're not always viewed as the good guys. Republicans have had 6 years under W to "kill the bad guys" All I've seen is a bunch of fear mongering & less stable world environment.

It's a shame, because I agree with most of their economic policies...

WHAT economic policies??? The one where we spend and spend and spend money we don't actually have on "killing the bad guys?" The US is so far in debt that our grandkids will be still be paying double taxes on the debt held by China. Oh, and that will be blamed on some unspecific "Democrats."

It never ceases to amaze me that people who would criticize their friends and relatives for running up high-interest credit card debt don't realize that the U.S. government is doing the global equivalent of that right now, or don't think it's a bad thing.

Under our last Democratic administration (Clinton), we actually had a balanced budget. Under our current Republican administration (Bush), we've spent so many g'zillion dollars we don't have and now are facing an enormous deficit. Not so great on the economic side.

As to bad guys - last I heard, Bin Laden was alive and well. Aand Iraq - once run by an evil guy with no connections to Al Queda - is now overrun with evil guys of every stripe and a haven for Al Queda and all sorts of terrorist groups. I live in Manhattan, worked a couple of blocks away from the World Trade Center the day it was attacked (and have lungs permanently filled with the deadly smoke of the collapsed buildings, crashed planes and murder victims as a permanent momento), and feel no safer today. The big difference is that I personally know brave Americans getting shot at every day in Iraq and while I am grateful for their service, I don't feel safer but rather like we are breeding whole new geneations of people around the world who want to harm us.

The Republicans have been in power too long. They had a child molester running their committee on protecting missing and exploited children, they have lobbyist buying off politicians right and left (DeLay, Ney, etc.) and they seem to be giving away the national store to line the pockets of Halburton and we, the American taxpayer, get nothing in return.

Dems can spin all they want. This whole idea that we are "breeding" new terrorists is just BS. They were committed to killing us long before Iraq. Its just now we have forced the issue and brought this out into the open.

The fact of the matter is that there is a group of terrorists who need killing, and it is much much broader than one guy. And the people who are the most terrorized are the ones in the middle east. The moderates are terrorized there. If we (all) kill enough of the bad guys, there will be a tipping point at some point. Because most people in the middle east are sane. They just don't have sane leadership. Regardless of the many obvious faults of the GOP, they are the ones forward leaning. And the Dems want to hide and retreat.

There seems to be this idea that if we are nicer to people they will be nice to use back. That is not always the case. The terrorists have been crystal clear about their intentions, they very clearly want to kill us. We have to kill them first. Period. Now there is all sorts of stuff we need to do in additon to this, but the core mission is kill the bad guys. And that is what we are doing in Iraq every day. And it is making us safer. Do you know how many different types of terrorist we are fighting in Iraq? We are fighting Sunni Al Qaeda, Shiite/Iranian thuggery, Sunni Iraqi Baathists, garden variety thugs. Iraq is one big honeypot attracting these flies. Now this might not have been the intention, or the reason or whatever. But this is the reality. Would't you rather have the bad guys come to you, than have to go to them?

The "balanced budget" Clinton supposedly had was just the effects of 8 years of Ronald Regan who did wonderful things for our economy. All Clinton managed to do was take funding away from our military which is why it had to be rebuilt for the last 6 years....

Party affiliation aside, we need to demand that our politicians behave like adults. What ever happened to statesmanship? This partisan b*s*, Republicans hiding (literally) behind doors so democratic committee members can't find them, Democrats no doubt looking to do the same if they regain power. The honest straight-talking adults (like McCain) are labelled mavericks, I am sure they will pick Barack Obama apart, especially since he is open about areas where he differs with Democratic heads
(read the linked article and find out how our elected officials in WA are behaving- it is sickening). All the shallow voting populace who vote the emotional hot button issues (do we really want gay marriage as the litmus test of a competent politician-screw emminent domain and our bill of rights, we need to micromanage gay family life ??????) No one knows about the thousands of earmarks slipped into the few bills congress does pass, but we all know the latest detail about Reese and Ryan's break-up. "Sorry to have awaken you from your slumber America" .

To the original post, I would like to add......Do the country a favor, get yourself informed on the issues, then vote. I don't care what party you vote, but please don't vote from an ignorant or emotional stance. Invest a bit of time in yourself and the country and really try to understand what you are voting for, and how it will affect our children's future. Reach for the voter's guide, not the People magazine.

I can't believe you are too stupid to realize he was saying it is this administration (led by a C student President) that got us stuck in Iraq, not our poor troops, who are victims of poor planning and Haliburton/Betchel botch-ups.

You are ill informed or are just listening to bs media that is everywhere. You need to look at the facts. They just did an overview of this very subject on Fox news this morning and jobs are at an all time high. 92% of americans who want to work are working and over 1.3 million jobs have been created this year, not to mention home ownership is at an all time high with 70% of americans owning homes. As far as violence in schools parents need to be more involved in their childrens lives as well as school. People in general need to start taking responsibility for their own actions. This country has been playing the blame game far too long and it needs to stop. Stop bitching and try to do something to support the cause for what you believe in and I don't mean choosing someone to support. Go out there and make a difference, get involved and for gods sake KNOW YOUR FACTS!

Please wake up. Neither Fox News nor any other news network, regardless of which side you support, will provide you with such troublesome things as "facts" or that long-forgotten concept of "objective reporting". American "news" is the laughing stock of the planet. Every station is merely a pawn with a bias based on their ownership and which party would most benefit them if placed in power. These are BUSINESSES. They have no interest whatsoever in "giving it to you straight." And the fact that NO ONE on all the threads regarding politics at the moment has been able to rise above school-yard jabs or misinformed grandstanding makes me dispair. This is not football, people. Your "team" will not always get it right. They will not always have your best interests at heart. All we can do is inform ourselves as best we can and choose the least of the evils without ripping each other apart in the process. I hope all of you do so.

Tanker Brothers- wow great blog. Over and over we see that the people actually in Iraq doing the work see great value in what they are doing. They realize they are building a democracy- a tough task in a brutal area. But if anyone can do it, it is our soldiers.
