Sugar is the root of all evil

I just came to this realization. I have had skin allergies for years and I have done everything imaginable to fight it. Then I started to cut down on sugar, way down. And presto, things are getting a lot better.

i think NOT knowing how one's own body functions and reacts to certain foods is the root of many evils. for me, it's wheat. but i did not know this was a problem for many years.

To 2:20 from 12:18...crack isn't a powder like cocaine? I'm shaking my head at my own ignorance. I should make a point of getting out more. Heh.

I'm not the crack poster, but I know it's not a powder. It also goes by the name "rocks" because it looks like crystalized pebbles, sorta.

Eh, that's just what I've read, anyway - hahahah.

I thought you were going to say crack was a liquid. I know it comes in vials (or at least it did when I first heard about it, what, 20 years ago?), so I figured powder or maybe liquid...seems like an odd container for rocks.

Sober 19 years lady - thanks for sharing your expertise! I'm so glad this forum is anonymous so you felt free to share that. Oh, that and no one knows what a goody-two-shoes I secretly am.

When I gave up carbs, including white sugar, in a misguided but long-term shot at Atkins, I cheated once after about 2 months - can of Coke, french fries, ice cream. The Coke tasted awful (note the capital C, so this doesn't get confused with the offshoot "coke"/crack subthread!), the french fries were more delicious than ever, and I was ambivalent about the ice cream despite the 95-degree weather. You really can lose your sweet tooth! However, Atkins takes such a nasty toll on your organs that I don't recommend it as a way of breaking the addiction. And it only takes a few days of eating "normally" to get your sweet tooth back.

You go gurl/boy! Well done. That's one of the hardest addictions to kick, as you well know. Great success story.
