Winter bathing suits?

I recently booked a 3 day vacation at the Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark for the middle of January. It's my family's cheap version of a tropical vacation this year :)

Now my problem, I have lost 35lbs this year. My current bikini the bra style top gaps and I feel like with too much movement I could easily have a wardrobe malfunction, the bottoms also gap and don't fit right. I'd rather not buy a suit online so I can try it on to see how it fits and flatters before wearing it in public... but where do you go shopping for a swimsuit in November-January??? Any advice?

Pretty much any big department store has a "resort wear" section w/ bathing suits, although they can be expensive. Any sporting goods store has swimsuits year round, although they tend not to be the sexy ones, more the functional kind.

TJ Maxx and Marshalls tend to have swimsuits year-round for good prices; the section gets much smaller but doesn't disappear.

Alternately, if you can't find anything, you can always take your old suit to a tailor. That sounds a little ridiculous, but probably for $20 or so, you could have the suit taken in where you need it, and then you don't need to look for a new one!

Congrats on the weight loss!

Alot of pool supply stores also sell swimsuits- many of which are the sexy kind. Check your yellowpages and call some up. This time of year, they're also a little cheaper. Pool store near my place is selling theirs half off.

Many sporting good stores (Sports Authority, etc) carry swimsuits year round - they will be pretty basic, but you might get an idea how they fit. My mother swears by Land's End and they have a size chart that corresponds to physical measurements. That's where she went when she and my dad took a winter trip to Mexico. Best of luck!

I'll second Land's End. Even though it is online & you're hoping for local, Land's End has a virtual model feature on their website, allowing you to type in your measurements and see what the suit would look like on you. I've used this virtual model feature, bought a suit, and when the suit arrived, it really did look like it did on the virtual model.

I gotta say, I look at the Land's End catalog and think, "Those bathing suits make the MODELS look fat, what will they do for ME?" Bought one once and sent it right back, yep, it made me look enormous.

Cruises to warm destinations are extremely popular so there are bathing suits available at many websites and major department stores. You shouldn't have a problem finding one at all.
