cabbage soup diet

Anyone tried this? I don't really like cabbage but if it gets some results I think I could live with it. I have a wedding coming up and would like to wear my dress without spanx underneath. If you've tried it or know anyone who has with success, can you let me know?

You will definately lose weight, but it is not exceptionally healthy. I love the soup. I eat it as a filler, because it is healthy (as long as you include other healthy foods).

Can someone post the soup recipe? If it's a good filler, I could certainly benefit from it! Thanks!

Recipe

6 large green onions
2 green peppers
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole)
3 Carrots
1 Container (10 oz. or so) Mushrooms
1 bunch of celery
half a head of cabbage
1 package Lipton soup mix
1 or 2 cubes of bouillon (optional)
1 48oz can V8 juice (optional)
Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, curry, garlic powder, etc.
Directions:

Slice green onions, put in a pot and start to saute with cooking spray.

Cut green pepper stem end off and cut in half, take the seeds and membrane out. Cut the green-pepper into bite size pieces and add to pot.

Take the outer leafs layers off the cabbage, cut into bite size pieces, add to pot.

Clean carrots, cut into bite size pieces, and add to pot.

Slice mushrooms into thick slices, add to pot.

If you would like a spicy soup, add a small amount of curry or cayenne pepper now.

You can use beef or chicken bouillon cubes for seasonings. These have all the salt and flavors you will need.

Use about 12 cups of water (or 8 cups and the V8 juice), cover and put heat on low. Let soup cook for a long time - two hours works well. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

I do not use the v8 or mushrooms... v8 especially because of the sodium and calories

and it should be lipton onion soup mix

I don't recommend only eating cabbage soup. Besides the fact that it's just about the worst thing I've ever tasted, besides beets, you're going to mess up your metabolism and then once you start eating again you'll gain even more back. I say, eat right and exercise a little more than is comfortable. If that doesn't work, bite the bullet and wear the spanx--it's a lot better than messing with your metabolism.

I haven't tried the Cabbage Soup recipe above, but here's a diet Hamburger-Cabbage soup that is really good!

HAMBURGER-CABBAGE SOUP

In a HUGE pot, brown 1 lb. HAMBURGER, and add:
½ TEASPOON GARLIC SALT
¼ TEASPOON GARLIC POWDER
2 CELERY STALKS, chopped
16 oz CAN of KIDNEY BEANS, undrained
28 oz CAN of CHOPPED TOMATOES
28 oz CAN of WATER
4 BEEF BULLION CUBES
½ MEDIUM HEAD of CABBAGE, chopped

Bring to a boil and then simmer at least a half hour.
Cool it, refrigerate it, and serve it the next day. (It
takes a day for the flavors to meld.)

Enjoy!

put my mom in the hospital

Honestly i really don't recommend this diet for anyone. Although I agree that the soup is really good for you, like someone else mentioned it ruins your metabolism. My mom did this diet for less then a month and lost 40lbs. And...she ended up in the hospital and had to get her gullbladder taken out. She didnt even look good because she lost the weight so fast and because she was so hungry all the time she couldnt even exercise..therefore she wasn't toned and full of loose skin. I really dont recommend this at all!
I agree with another poster about just eating healthy and having some hard workouts before the event. At least then you will feel good about yourself that you are doing it the right way. and won't feel deprived and gain it all back afterwards.
On that note..my mom did gain it all back afterwards..plus more because she was so freakin hungry!

Cabbage is so good for you but I imagine you do need foods with other nutrients. I might try that soup though.
