Have People Started Noticing You?

I gave birth do my son last March and with my pregnancy I gained nearly 70 lbs! I was the largest I have ever been.

Well, I've busted my butt to lose the weight and am close to my pre pregnancy weight and all of a sudden men (especially) that didn't notice me, suddenly are and I'm a little annoyed at this.

Having been on both sides of the fence made me realize that most men are pigs.

Sorry, had to vent.

Hey, chubby chasers are even worse than normal guys noticing a normal-size woman. If I had to choose between the lesser of two evils, I'd have to say I'd prefer being a piece of meat to being a fetish.

And congrats on doing away with the baby weight! When you account for the actual baby's weight and all the other stuff that comes out, that means you've lost about 50 lbs in 10 months. Go you!

At 5'4, I I have lost 17lbs so far going from 145 to 127 and no one really seemed to notice at work or family that I see all the time. I guess because they see me everyday....but I got my FIRST compliment from the counter person at the Dry Cleaners - she said you keep shrinking and shrinking every time you come in here! Totally made my day :)

I'm curious about the 5:55 comment. At any weight, I attract foot fetishists. (I live where sandals are commonplace, have trim ankles and well-kept feet.) I have had 2 serious boyfriends who were foot-fetishists. I never found this particularly disturbing, though, maybe b/c I don't dislike my feet? Or b/c they were pretty good boyfriends? What is disturbing about "being a fetish?"

Women do the same. I don't think someone reacting to you differently because the biological signals you're giving off are now those of a healthier individual makes anyone a pig. It just makes them an animal, like all of us. Subconsciously we all react to members of the species who look the most likely to produce healthy children. A healthy weight is one of these indicators.

Obviously if someone has gone out of their way to make you uncomfortable I hope you were able to explain that it wasn't appreciated, but otherwise just take it as a compliment.

Often, we are our own critics....

I used to feel self-conscious about my muscular calves, until I got to college and started getting lots of compliments (usually, "Do you work out? How do you get your calves to look like that?") At first, I was completely embarrassed because I had never gotten a single compliment in high school (although I now know that I was thin, I thought of myself as being "big" back then...It's amazing how age and extra weight gain changes our perceptions about ourselves!)

I'm about 35 lbs more than I weighed in college, but I am lucky to have continued to have solid legs (I'm building more muscles these days due to lots of walking)--and I STILL get compliments on them! I've learned to realize that I had an asset and to accept the compliments with a smile vs. getting disturbed by them....

My mom never understood because she was one with tiny bones and the "skinny genes"--and from a culture where athleticism in women (espcially from her generation) was strongly DISCOURAGED.... I got my dad's legs, and am very proud of them dispite her discomfort!!
