people's perception -vs- self confidence

I'm sorry if this has been brought up here before ...

I've lost a lot of weight over the past several months. I've been exercising regularly and getting stronger as well. As a result I've noticed my self confidence has grown by leaps and bounds. I've also noticed that people respond to me differently now. Strangers hold doors open for me. People smile at me more.

I was wondering is this a reaction to a "thinner" me, is it a reaction to my increased self confidence, or maybe a combination of both?

I'm thinking maybe a combination. I believe there are those who are nicer to "thinner" people. I also believe that as I gain self confidence, I have a more commanding presence that people are responding to, if that makes any sense.

I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this as they lost a lot of weight.

Tough call. But we do live in a society that rewards 'standard beauty'.But good for you for working out and feeling great. That should be all that matters!

when i first lost weight i also had a renewed self confidence. i did put some weight back on, but my confidence remained elevated. with my higher self regard, i totally noticed that strangers were more polite to me in stores, passing by on the street, just in general. i think it has a lot more to do with your presentation of yourself.

self perception

Yes this is true 10:50 poster, its the self confidence that you emit to others that makes you more attractive. The losing weight helps also. BUt I think the greatest factor is how you portray yourself. You can be very attractive and not have self confidence, yes there are some out there. but if you hang your head and not look at people your most likely going to get a negative response and that is what a lot of people who don't think they are very attractive do. Its all about your perception of yourself, when you feel good about yourself and you are always smiling your just a more likeable person and it shows inside and out.
