EMAIL THREAD
**PEERtrainer Weekly Meetings Starting in Bay Area
We are experimenting with a weekly meeting format, and starting in Foster City, CA. We are offering 2 meetings in the early evenings on Monday and Tuesday, and on Saturday or Sunday mornings.
The meetings will have a suggested contribution of $8, which primarily benefits the meeting leader. We will be rolling out the meetings to different areas of the country. If you are interested in being a coach, please let us know. We know that other meeting formats pay their coaches very little, and we are working on a model that provides greater value to both the meeting leader as well as the meeting participant.
If you are interested in any aspect of what we have planned please email us!

i'm a little confused. is this sponsored by peertrainer? usually when PeerTrainer posts a new thread or makes a comment, they "sign" the posting. is this an individual or a group or is it in fact Peertrainer itself?

two thoughts
1. I don't think I'd pay that much to attend a meeting. I'm cheap.
2. Let me know when you want to start meetings in NH - I'd love to sign up to be a leader! LOL (I could use the money!)

Yes, this is run by PEERtrainer!
Our thoughts on pricing is that if you really can't pay, you will be welcome. For some, $8 is a price of a sandwich, for others money is a lot tighter. And we want to be able to pay the appropriate talent. Knowing how to lose weight long term, and being able to communicate and lead others is a tremendous skill. We are opening up this discussion to give the PT community as much transparency as possible, and also solicit your feedback.

This is interesting. I was just thinking yesterday that organized PT runs, or charity races, etc. would be really cool and a great way to meet new people.

questions?
what will transpire at this meetings? will it be like an open forum of discussion between leaders/group members or more of an instructional session by the leader? where will the meetings be held?

First of all, I wish I still lived in Foster City! I would love to attend meetings in Sacramento. I do agree that $8 seems a bit steep, especially if the meetings were held weekly. I recommend no more than $5 per meeting.

don't live in california but i paid $9 for a lunch today so $8 seems reasonable. less than a movie. i think people are prone to bitching about a price.

i don't know, paying $8 to sit in a meeting when you can log on and chat with successful peertrainer members for free, albeit not in person, seems a bit steep. if it was the only way to exchange the information / tips / strageties that would be another thing. would these meeting include public weigh-ins?

Our sense of this offering is that it may well appeal to people not currently on PEERtrainer. The folks who are successful here are highly disciplined and are self-motivated. Many others really want guidance. For them, the combination of a weekly meeting plus the daily access will be compelling.
We view the current PEERtrainer users as a great source of coaches and leaders. Those of you who are successful using this as a resource and are great motivators to others in your group, we want to bring you in.
