wu-long (oolong) tea?

does anyone know anything about this tea? just wondering if it's something real or the next fad, does it really work? is it just another diuretic or will it help long term weight loss?

I drink Oolong tea made by Numi. I get it at whole foods, costs about $5 for the box, and it is delicious. The "premium Wu long" tea google ads are probably bogus. But green tea and tea in general is very good for you.

lol...oolong was just in the paper as a crossword answer. I couldn't figure out for the life of me what it was! :)

Oolong tea has been around "forever". Green tea is not fermented before steaming and drying, and remains green in color - it's high in a variety of anti-oxidants, esp. catechins and polyphenols. Black tea is fermented (not like wine - allowed to wilt and oxidize) before drying and has less catechins, but still lots of polyphenols. Oolong is fermented, but not as long as black tea, and is intermediate in flavor, color and antioxidants. Most Chinese restaurant tea is oolong. There are some super pricy oolongs that come from Taiwan, most of which never make it out of that country.

Tea of any kind isn't a miracle weight loss drug. True teas* of all kinds are somewhat diuretic. All true teas are pretty darn healthy.

*True tea = a tea from the plant Camellia sinensis, including white, green, oolong and black teas of various kinds. Doesn't include herb tea.

Wu-long Tea

I will be getting the tea on the 17th and I have a feeling that it is going to work. Why because Oprah has taking it before and for her to be who she is why would she lie.

I have been drinking oolong tea, and I think it is helping with my appitite. I was suprised that I didn't just diurese (pee my brains out). But I find it satisfying. Interesting about the allergy thing. Mine have greatly improved, but I thought it was just the frost in the air decreasing the allergens.
I think oolong is worth a try

I have been reading lately that there are two teas out there and sorry but I can't remember the second but Oolong was one of them, that help with weight loss. It seems you have to drink a lot of it, like 5 cups a day.
I bought both and haven't tried either for long enough to tell any change.
I think it was metabolism that it is supposed to help with.

Coming from a Chinese person...

Oolong tea is not some weight loss miracle so please don't think it's so. Tea is in general good for your health and drinking it when you feel hungry helps curb your appetite.....as does drinking water. Oolong itself is not high in caffeine, although there are other teas that are. I love it (grew up drinking it) and find it relaxing to have a cup of tea. Plus it takes my mind of munching =)

green tea

Green tea is a miracle. I don't know about oolong, but there is a compound in green tea that causes fat to burn. Some people have okay metabolisms but are living in a "fat suit". Green tea helps bridge the gap between your active body and inactive fat stores....
