Uber Tan, Bright White, Lipo, Highlighted!
Is it just me or are people becoming more and more perfected by all these crazy treatments?
I understand and appreciate the quest to perfection, but I saw a girl at the gym today that was so overly processed. She was so tan, although not orange, she still looked very unnatural, color processed hair, and the brightest whitest smile I have ever seen, it hurt to look directly at her teeth.
Is society obsessed with perfection? And when is it enough already!?

oh geez-some of the women i see at my gym downright frighten me! Some of them get so dolled up to go there-it's sort of funny! i go there to workout, build muscle, burn calories, and i think some people go there just to be seen and chat with people. i've actually watched women put on moisturizer on their legs and spray perfume in the locker room before going out and hopping on a machine. why? i don't get it. but that is a whole other topic i guess!
the over-tan, bleached, highlighted thing is getting out of control-i'm all for enhancing what you already have, to a degree, but i think a lot of people in society take it too far. what is wrong with how we look naturally?

I agree...I see some women in my gym that literally walk around for an hour and might walk for 5 minutes on a treadmill or do one set of weights, then just sit and look pretty. They work-out with full makeup and jewelry. What makes me laugh the most are the ones that come out with their hair done perfectly.
When I get to the gym I throw on my clothes, throw backmy hair in a ponytail (I might take the time to tuck some fly-away hairs behind my ears), put on extra deoderant, and hit the gym floor. When I'm done I'm sweaty, my hair is a little messy, but I think I look better than those girls done up all pretty.
As for tans...I think the glow my skin gets from a really hard workout is better than any fake-bake..and its cancer-free! LoL Highlights...yeah..they get a little fake. I highlight my hair at home, its $20, and looks natural.

I get to the gym early, the only prep I do is tame the brows, curl lashes so I look more awake and nude gloss, not a fan of chapstick. Sometimes I feel overdone for the gym, but compared to some of the girls there, I know that I'm not.
Even on TV and magazines, just about every celebrity is tan, some look more natural than others and the teeth whitening is frightening! And the teeth look is more than just whitening, it's lumineers, veneers, whatever, it's just too much!

I put on nude gloss too! lol. And if I didn't already have some one I'll throw on some waterproof mascara...it makes me look awake and alert.

Meh. what's worse- the overly processed looking super tan gym bunny or the pasty grungy unwashed hippy with "natural" body hair and odor? I know who I want to be stuck next to on the treadmill.

i am happy to be at the gym because it makes me healthier. anything else that goes on around me is just going on around me. i don't attempt to affect others with my presence, and i am not even paying attention to how other people look or how they dress or if they shave or not. when i want to "people-watch", i go somewhere with a notebook and sit, taking notice and taking notes. maybe we would all be able to stay a little more on track with our own pursuits if we focused more on how we ourselves feel, rather than wonder about why some people tan or whiten their teeth or wear jewelry or have body odor in the gym...that's my opinion. just remember to keep going to the gym, even if you're not impressed with what you may see!

This post is rude
I highlight my hair, whiten my teeth (to a point), tan, and do wear the make up I have on from my day when I go to the gym. I do work out too. Does that make me one of these "freaks" that you speak of? Cmon... quit judging and get over it. People do what they want to do and look how they want to look. It is really judgemental to post about this topic and down people because they are trying to look nice. It's not perfection, but if you look nice, why not be enhance your beauty by not having yellowish teeth from soda stains? Geesh.

Why all the judgment?
You people seem very judgmental. Why does it matter so much how other people look or how their choose to style their face, teeth, hair, etc.? It seems that none of these people are imposing on your liberties so perhaps you’d be better off letting others be.

i say
those who scoff at perfection probably fear that they will not be able to attain it. and while it may be possible that no person can, it certainly is a worthwhile goal to be the best person you can be.
