How much does a women with a 32 inch waist weigh?

I am reading about the poor health risk that having abdominal fat is. The doc who wrote about it suggested that a goal for a healthy amount of abdominal fat for a woman would be to have a 32 inch waist, and a man, a 35 inch waist.

I wondered how much a woman who is 5'1'' would weigh with a 32 inch waist. I sure don't remember what I weighed when I was there, decades ago.

Are there any of you who are 5'1" and have a 32 inch waist? Please tell me how much you weigh, so I can have a goal to go towards. I looked up on the web for the size that goes with that measurement and it said 16. Is that right? Thanks for your help.

First I have to just be blunt, your joking right? Every body is different. You could take 3 women who are 5'1 and weigh all the same and they would be totally shaped differently and wear different sizes. It just depends on your body, how your built, whether or not your small, medium or large framed, where you carry your weight.

I can tell you I am 5'2 and wear a size 14/16 and I so don't have a 32" waist. At my thinest which was in high school, I was 135 pounds and wore a size 3. Of course a size 3 back then was a lot different then a size 3 today. Damn I'm sick of this vanity sizing!!!

Why not make your goal to have a 32 inch waist? Does it really matter what your weight is if that's what you want to get to?

Don't get stuck on a number on the scale, use that as one measure to track your loses but if you goal is a certain measurement or pant size why worry about equating that in weight... just make that your goal.

I am 5'1 and have a 32 !/2 inch waist. I weigh 150 lbs. Half of that is muscle weight. I have lifted weights for years (I'm almost 50) and do not appear that heavy. I wear a size 10 pants, sometimes an 8. Weight is a poor measure of fitness, especially once you start working out. Go with measurements.

OP here. Thanks 8:07. I'm in my fifties, too, and your info was just what I was looking for. I realize that the amount of fat will make a difference in the weight at a certain measurement, but at least I have a rough idea.

I'm 5'1" and right now weigh 113 lbs. My waist is about 26". I weighed close to 130 lbs (close to an "overweight" BMI) about a year ago, and even then my waist wasn't over 30"! But, I have a pear or hourglass shape. If I were an "apple," I might be able to weigh something similar but have a much bigger waist. My hips are about 36", and my chest is 35".

I personally think, at 5'1", you should aim for around 28" - 30"; if someone says the average woman is healthy at XX weight, that doesn't mean that someone who's very short (like us) would be healthy at that same weight! But, if it's a long way off, or if you're an "apple," then a small waist might not be the best goal.

just to illustrate what 951 is talking about - i'm 5'4" and weigh 135 (healthy weight) but am an apple shape and my waist is 34". gah! i'm working every day to lower that number!
