Health. I've always been a big guy, BUT I used to be an athletic big guy. After a couple years of a desk job, I've let things slide too far, and want to shed a couple of these pounds.
That being said, I wouldn't mind wearing smaller pants as well. I've lost quite a bit of weight already, and it's nice when people notice your hard work.

I want to become happier with myself. I lost some weight last year and my self confidence boosted up. I was also wearing smaller jeans. Now that I have gained 15 lbs back, my confidence it back down and my jeans are tight again.
I want to be happy with me so that it shows and that people are happy with me. I would also like to become more active and not be such a home body.

I have a 4 month old son who is going to be crawling soon and I want to be able to keep up with him as he becomes more active.

to wear all the clothes that have been buried back in my closet for too long. I am guilty of buying clothes on sale that are just a little bit too tight and then thinking I'll lose weight.....most of them still have tags and I want to wear them soon!

Health, I have asthma, High BP, bad foot and ankle which I've already had surgery on. I know and my doctor has told me if I dropped the weight that I would have these problems so that the most important reason.

1. health: I am working hard to avoid heart disease (dad died of it at 48), hypertension, diabetes & cancer.
2. I'm sick of not being able to do all the fun things I used to do: jogging, backpacking, bellydancing, partner dancing without my knees giving out from underneath me and sweating gallons/gasping for air.

I want to REALLY look the way I feel. After seeing recent photos of myself, I had no idea that I appear larger than how I see myself. I thought I was just a little big, but not officially overweight. What a wake-up call!
Also, as I am nearing 40 (4 yrs away), I want to be as healthy as I can be so that I can have a child (my 1st one) with as little complications as possible.

I just want to be comfortable with myself and not feel like everyone is looking at me and thinking FAT GIRL!!! I also want to feel comfortable with my husband he says I am not fat and he loves me but I see the way he will look at the skinny women in bathing suits on television and I know he doesnot look at me that way....If I am discusted with my body then how could he be happy with it??

I want to be my husband's mid life crisis! His trophy wife! We have been together since we were 19 years old and are both turning 40 this year so we have joked about trading one another in for two 20's. So I said why go through divorce, upsetting our kids, blah, blah, blah. We will just get in shape for each other and be each other's fantasy.!!

Being a HOT Mama! Literally!
I have 3 kids, 2 of which I've given birth to in the past 2 years and I just want to look as happy as I feel. I want to have perky boobs, tan (with in reason of course), toned, wear cute young clothes that make me feel beatiful! I have never truly been the size I want to be as an adolescent or adult and would like to be able to go to the store and buy something that fits really well without feeling depressed in the dressing room. I would like my husband to want to grab my butt while I'm making dinner because it's cute and love on me not because I'm a good pillow but because I'm sexy! I want to feel like a HOT Mama and make my kids proud that their mom is fit and happy and active!

My motivation is my future baby ... the one I want to have when I'm in better shape - When I'm out biking and I see a mom and her child it motivates me to keep doing what I'm doing. Just the other day I saw a mom breastfeeding under the shade of a tree in an empty park near my house - it was so inspiring that even though my legs were fatigued, I peddled faster. Even though I'm "doing it for me" ... I'm doing it for my own baby too ... and what great inspiration it is :)

Reason for wanting to lose weight
Because I gained it.....
I have never been over weight before and did not realize how much it affects my mobility. I was in an accident and was not able to work out and gained 25 pounds, I feel terrible and have not energy. So, the only thing that has changed in my life, besides getting older is my weight gain.

If I look better, my self-esteem might hopefully get a boost. My health isn't really bad, but of course, I want to be healthy, too. But right now I'll admit, my main factor is vanity.

since having my baby I feel like I obsesed about my weight. I talk about it all the time, it just always comes up.... you know like "How's the weather, oh yeah I just lost 1/4 pound" I never used to worry about my weight, and now it is all I think of. I want to be free again.

I guess that at the core my number one reason for wanting to lose weight would be my health. There are several things that run in my family that are made worse by excessive weight and I'm at the age and weight that they are starting to look like my inevitable future.
However, as shallow as it might seem, my daily motivator is that I want to look better. I have all these cute clothes from when I was thin that I refuse to throw away, and that I very much want to wear again.

top reasons for me
1. Health - I see the family history of High BP and Diabetes and I do not want to go on that road. Start while I'm young!
2. Confidence - I never thought my weight was a factor of my confidence level, but lately I've been seeing the bigger picture and how I present myself to others. Sometimes I tend to put myself down mostly as a joke, but that is not good for me and my self esteem.
3. Like one of the postings I just read, I wanna look HOT! lol why not?! Let me enjoy the rest of my twenties.

I just turned 33 and although that's still plenty young, I have 2 kids under 5 that I want to watch have kids of their own. I am an actress, and this field is intensly competitive; while I DO NOT agree with losing weight to get approval from agents/director/casting, I know that I'd make more oney if I were a smaller size, that's just the way this industry works, they don't hire the fat girls to play the lead love interest, they hire Gwyneth Paltrow and put her in a fat suit....so my #1 reason is for my kids, #2 for myself, #3 for the work I am not getting.

I know - it is hard to eat when you're upset. I lost 10 lbs last year in 2 weeks because of something similar. Problem is I gained it all back plus 5 when I started eating again.

12:22 here. You got it. MILF is the word (that you heard. It's got groove, it's got meaning).
Theres an ad for some shampoo about wanting to find yourself again and you see this woman go from well put together/fit into pregnant, tired, hassled, harried - sweat pant wearings, etc - back into well put together (Thanks to the shampoo)
Which of course is grossly simplifying things.
However. I remember that post-baby stage (times two) where I did wear sweats a lot, hadn't had my hair cut or tweezed a brow for ages and I looked really tired and hassled and all that. Even when I went back to work full time.
And now, I'm back to my pre marriage weight - 5-7 lbs to flab-free, i believe, or the best I can do at 40 something... and I dress right for my shape/coloring, and I feel younger and hipper and cuter than I have in a long time.
I think that it's glorious to turn oneself into a MILF even if you don't intend on violating ones marriage vows. It's still fun to have the head-turn happen.

I'm turning 28 this year, and I've been 20-25 lbs overweight most of my life, (minus a year here or there when I dieted and then stopped only to gain it all back plus some). So... My goal is to be able to run a 5k, quit smoking, and be in the best shape of my life by the time I am 30!

My health was the real reason--I had high cholesterol, and that scared me. I couldn't even climb a flight of stairs without panting for five minutes afterwards.
But that was over 50 pounds ago, and now the vanity has kicked in--I feel wonderful physically, but I want to be HOT while I'm still young enough to enjoy it!!

You are not depriving yourself of food- the only thing you are depriving yourself of is ultimate thinness

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.
I can't control the world, but I can control myself...
Because you've made a decision: you will NOT stop. The pain is necessary, especially the pain of hunger. It reassures you that you are strong, can withstand anything, that you are NOT a slave to your body, you don't have to give in to it's whining.
Everyone is just jealous because I can control myself.
Why can't they realize my strength? How much it's taken to make so little of myself.
You can learn to love anything, I think, if you need to badly enough. I trained myself to enjoy feeling hungry. If my stomach contracts, or I wake up feeling nauseated, or I'm light-headed, or I have a hunger headache, or better yet, all of the above, it means I'm getting thinner. So it feels good. I feel strong. On top of myself and in control.
The difference between need and want is self-control.
I'm hungry. Damn that feels so good...
Dieting is fulfilling. Colors become brighter. Sounds sharper. Cookies, cakes and other sweets become more fattening.
