Has anyone seen real results with SlimFast shakes?

I have them once in a while, sometimes quite often, but today I read the ingredient labels on the back of the can probably more carefully than ever before: sugars, fats, including sat, etc, etc, etc. It must not be good for you not a single bit. And then at those 260ccal it ain't even that 'light' a lunch.
What do you think, folks?

I think any chemical soup substitute for good wholesome food is not good for you. I wouldn't be so worried about the calories. 260 calories is not a lot for lunch. I would focus on the quality of the calories. If you are a woman the minimum calories you should be eating everyday is 1200 calories. Anything less than this puts your body into starvation mode. You will hang on to every calorie you put in until you surpass the minimum requirement to function. I know it is counter intuitive but you have to eat to lose weight. But you have to eat healthy, whole foods to lose it for good.

I lost a ton of weight using slim fast shakes. As soon as I stopped using them I gained it all back. If it's not something that you can do for the rest of your life it's not going to work...which is why most "diets" don't work in the long run. It's about making the right decisions when eating, healthy diet, and exercise. That's the only thing that will really work. Slim fast shakes are good to grab once in a while when you are on the go because they do contain alot of vitimins and minerals to keep your body going, but I would not recommend them as a weight loss plan.

the whole concept of a milkshake-like drink replacing meals completely misses the point of improving your health in a sustainable fashion. why not puree some cooked potatoes and peas & carrots with some broth and drink it?

I used them to lose 15 pounds. It was a good way to see tangible results fast and the slim fast plan, if followed the way slim fast recommends, actually does promote adopting a healthy lifestyle with lots of fruits and veggies and regular activity. I would get hungry in the afternoons for the first couple weeks, but I was very motivated so i stuck with it, and after that it was pretty easy. I gradually replaced each shake with the equivalent number of calories in solid food and kept losing weight.

I've lost around 30 pounds total and have been maintaining for over a year now.

Hi, OP here - great comments, thanks, guys!
I actually do agree that the shakes is definitely not a sustainable way to go. Yet, I'm working in a large corporate office without a kitchen - not even a microwave! - in it, and going through a really tough process of deciding what I should have for my workday lunches. I think I've already tried all the sensible solutions, and am always trying to 'brown bag': any kind of veggies, salads and sandwiches (with veggies) get mushy during the morning time, a small yoghurt and an apple do not always quite fill me and sometimes do not feel like a 'real' lunch. That's why I looked into the shakes. But you are all right, that is not the answer. I'll have to search for more options, or maybe simply decide to stop skimping and to grab a ready sandwich or salad from downstairs our office tower.
Thanks a lot!

why not bring some wheat thins or something similar, a banana, an orange, an apple, some nuts, and / or some trail mix? whole wheat pretzels (there are some organic ones that are pumpernickel & onion, yum!) are also a great choice. consider lunch your opportuniy to get in most of your fruit and grain servings for the day, as neither require refrigeration or cooking.
