The Single Most Important Factor in Weightloss

What do you see as the single most important factor in successful weightloss.

For me, it is clarity of purpose and the realization that I can not eat certain things and lose weight.

Determination! If you are determined to lose weight you will lose weight. Have faith in yourself, learn more about your body and how what we eat affects it. Set realistic goals and try to acheive them. Again most imp factor is DETERMINATION. once you have that concept down it will all work out

Accountability

For me the difference has been the logging of my intake and knowing that my peer can see what and how I have managed my eating and exercise. This is the one element missing in the past when I tried and failed many times. This small accountability factor helps me take a step back and re-think my food choices.

desire. If you want something bad enough you can achieve it.

DESIRE ... that is a good one. I know I want it. I just question myself about how bad I want it. I get all confused with other things that I want too. So for me, along with the desire I would have to add CLARITY OF GOAL. What do I want to accomplish? And most importantly, WHY do I want to accomplish it? If I don't know why I'm working so hard, sometimes I just stop trying. Not good!

Will power, focus and the ability to be hard on yourself/not let yourself get away with "just this one time" cheats or "I had a hard day so I deserve ice cream" cheats.

determination.

you just have to keep getting back up and trying again-not matter how many pounds you've lost, no matter how many times you've screwed up or sabotaged yourself. you'll get there if you don't give up. don't settle. don't be defeated. you can eat whatever foods you like (in moderation-pick your battles), and you can have bad days once in a while, but don't make every day a bad day or eat junk food every day-because if you are doing that, then you have already given up.

Consistency.

You find what works for you and you marry that lifestyle.. through thick and thin, no matter how much you want to leave or cheat, it's your life now.

Tracking what you're eating, whether it's calorie counting, weight watchers points or whatever. You can't lose the weight if you don't eat less than you burn.

Sticking to the diet is a biggy too, but if you're not doing the math on what you use, you're a bit lost.

Most important factor in weight loss

Wherever your mind goes your body or actions follow.
If your mind is made up-truly made up-then your body will line up and do as your mind thought.
The trick is, this works both ways, if your mind has been on eating a piece of cake, eventually you are going to eat it.
So the question is are you fully persuaded in your mind-if not you will not accomplish your goal!

A Plan.

How much do you want to lose? When do you want to lose it by? Is this achievable? How will you achieve it? How can you measure your short term goals to make sure that you will achieve your long term goals?

Losing 70 pounds by next year sounds like a daunting task. Losing 7 pounds by next month isn't quite so bad.

Stopping the self-delusion. The plate of food you get in a restaurant is NOT a normal serving; drinking wine or beer etc. every night WILL affect your weight; you are NOT "just big-boned."

PROCRASTINATION

I don't deny myself anything anymore. I just tell myself I will have that bowl of ice cream tomorrow. The "POWER OF LATER" has become my best ally.
