How long did it take...

How long did it take for you guys to see results with your weight loss (particularly if you don't have a large amount of weight to lose-- say you just need to lose 20-30 pounds)? And what areas in your body did you notice changes in first?

Thanks!

For me it was my waist and hips. It took me probably the first fifteen pounds before I really noticed that I looked different.

My goal is 25-30, and I've lost about 10 so far. I started to "see" results (not just on the scale, but actually in the mirror and in clothes) after about 3 weeks. I was losing about 2-3 lb/wk at first, but I've plateaued the last 2 wks. (arrgh.) My husband even commented that my arms and face looked thinner. I think that's where I can really "see" it for now, but I did notice that my khaki shorts I was previously squeezing into are fitting a bit looser, too.

I saw an obvious change after 5 pounds. I'm 5'10", have about 30 pounds I'd like to lose. I think most of what I noticed came from working out, not necessarily the actual weight loss.

It's hard to see the results when you look at yourself every day. The best way is to first take a pic of yourself, in something like a bikini (or naked, if you feel okay doing this), and then weekly or so take another, in the same lighting, etc., in the same clothes. Week by week, compare to the original, and you'll see changes faster. Otherwise, sometimes you forget what you really used to look like!

I had a 20 pound weight loss goal. I started 'feeling' different right away - just a general feeling of being lighter. I always kept a test pair of pants (my 'goal' pants) handy so I could put them on every week or so, and I felt a difference after about 6 pounds (3.5 weeks). I also took measurements when I started and I started seeing differences after only 2-3 weeks. They were small differences, but they were differences! I also did a 'fingers around the wrist' test and I was noticing a difference there after a month or so.

I have had a really interesting experience with this, because since I have become aware of my eating and lifestyle habits, I feel way fatter than when I began! Before I was in very serious denial but now my weight is a thought that's always in the forefront of my mind because it has become a priority and a goal. So even though I have lost 13 pounds and continue to lose I don't really see a difference in how my body looks.

However, others tell me that I look thinner and my clothes fit much better. I haven't gotten down a full size yet - I'm 5'7" - but I tried on some pants that two months ago I couldn't even fasten and they were really baggy. So I know there are results, I am just ready for more!
