Cheering section for Kate

I got onto PT because I saw Kate on the cover of People. If you read her blog, you know that she's going through a hard time right now. Let's let her know we don't want to lose her!

Kate, we love you! Keep logging and blogging!

Kate, I actually thought about you the other day when I found myself having a hard day and I remembered your suggestion to just have one good day and how far that can go. You have the best advice. Hang in there and let us be there for you.

Kate, I came to Peer Trainer because of your article in People. I started out at pretty much exactly your height and weight. I am now down 22 pounds and amiming for 145 as a goal. Don't give up! I hope that getting off the med that made you gain weight helps. You're in my thoughts!

i agree that Kate has been a strong influence on what i now believe to be a realistic goal for myself. without reading her blog and seeing her pics, i don't think i would yet be where i am in terms of believing in myself and setting reachable goals and enjoying each little success. here's a big shout out to Kate, "THANK YOU!!! SORRY I DIDN'T THINK TO SAY SO SOONER!!"

Kate, you have inspired and encouraged sooooo many of us. How can we help you? Take a deep breath and look around. This is progress not perfection. You are just learning something new about yourself and it is okay if it has slowed your progress. You'll make it

Hi guys

My screenname used to be kissmekate02 but I changed it after People magazine so I'd be easier to find.

Thank you all so much for your concern - I am finally crawling out from under the rock and I feel so much better the last couple of days. It's amazing how you can forget just how feeling normal is; pretty scary, actually.

I guess the one thing I would advise after going through all of this is to really take care of yourselves medically and do your research. I was so disappointed that losing all the weight didn't get rid of my high blood pressure, but it was a lot scarier when I went on that new medication and started gaining the weight back. And not just because I didn't want to be overweight again, but realizing that I was suddenly at an increased risk of getting diabetes - so frightening.

Anyway, I don't know whether I had a bad reaction to the new medication or withdrawals from the old one, but either way, I hope it's really over now.

Thanks again for all of the messages, posts, emails, and good wishes - I hate to be away from you guys and I hate that I haven't been able to log and continue to be a good role model, but I'm going to ease back into it and be here for you all like I've always tried to be.

XOXO
Kate

* smiles* I was thinking it use to be kiss me kate when I posted to clarify to those who didn't know who you were.

make sure you to take some you time .. we all need that once in a while, being a mom, wife and teacher has to be hard when your going through so much.

I am sure things will get back to normal.. .. you have always been there for everyone on here.. now its time to be there for yourself and let us be here for you.

I have no doubt you will start kicking that scales butt again.. you can do anything you set your mind to..

I meant what I said.. if you need to talk my username is lynneta. I understand meds and weight gain and the rollar coaster of emotions.

I went from a size 12 to a size 35.. steroids.. nasty things lol, but I am losing it .. Im down to a 14-16 now and Im still not done.. it takes time for our bodies to adjust,

keep your head up.. keep moving.

I also gained a ton of weight from drugs - fertility drugs .... and it didn't even work!!!! Although, now I am glad about that because I've since divorced the man I was married to at the time. I married another man and didn't need those nasty drugs again... luckily. But my point is, seeing the weight come on for reasons beyond your control IS very scary!

Absolutely! Your honesty about problems is the most helpful thing. When it comes to a serious undertaking, a lot of people can succeed with dedication and hard work -- but the really hard part, that trips up so many people, is being able to pick yourself back up after a problem or a "failure". True for weight loss, but also many other difficult things. It takes a LOT of grit to keep at it, and sometimes it seems that the more important the undertaking is to you, the more devastating and difficult it is to work through a period of "failure", because it really gets at your self-esteem. I think learning how to get back on the horse is the final step to big life changes, and succeeding long-term at big dreams. Thanks for sharing the process with the rest of us out there :)
