V8 Fusion

One of my 2008 resolutions for being healtier was to add more fruits and veggies to my diet. but, i still feel like i'm not getting enough nutrician because i always eat the same fruits and veggies. Yesterday I bought a bottle of V8 Fusion thinking i can drink nutrician as well as eat it, and still watch calories.

One 8-oz glass has 120 calories and is plump full of good stuff and no bad stuff.

Does anyone else drink this as a supplement to vitamins or nutrients you may not be receiving through your diet? Do you feel better? Are you packing on pounds because of the added calories?

Thanks!

Why don't you make smoothies? And add plain yogurt to make them creamy and added calcium/protein. It's cheaper and fresher.

op here.

thanks for the idea of a smoothy! I didn't think of that.

I have been doing it for a few days now and I am noticing a difference in my skin, my bms, I just feel a little better knowing i'm getting my fruits and veggies in every day.

disclaimer: i reserve the right to mispell (sometimes I am going too fast to realize i made an error)...spelling police not welcome.

pointing out the spelling errors of others is cathartic for the chronically angry. Don't take it personally, it is their deal.

V8 Fusion is not good for you!!! The first ingredient after water is high fructose corn syrup!!! NOT good at all!!!
This is not the same as tomato V8 which has no added sugar..

still better to eat the whole food. you are losing a lot of fiber. Juice has a much higher glycemic(sp) index- it becomes sugar much faster...

but the sugar content in V8 Fusion is VERY low since there are no additives. I might be losing fiber, but am I not gaining the benefit of the fruit and veggies?

Yes you do get the nutruitents but not in the best form. and the sugar content is really high because the food is not in full form. the South Beach diet book goes ito great detail about how juices can negatively affect your heart rate, etc.

that's interested. please don't think i am starting an argument, i'm just looking for more info to know whether this is what i should do or not.

what kind of negative effects can pure juice have on the heart?

I'm not exactly sure but it has to do with the fact that the glycemic index is higher

V8 FUSION LIGHT

after reading this thread i put v8 fusion on my grocery list... as i was reaching for one of the yummy flavors, lo-and-behold i found v8 fusion LIGHT! there were three different varieties to choose from and they were all only 50 calories per serving vs. the 120 for the regular. it's not overly sweet like juice and is really tasty.

I still think it's best to eat real fruit. It's so important to get fiber in your diet. Also, those juices probably have preservatives so it'll last on the shelf for many many months without refrigeration...not very natural sounding.

V8 Fusion

Love it! Im 14 and drink bout 3 bottles a week or more. It gives you energy fo sports like track and cheerleading! Trust me even though the whole bottle has 8 serving sizes and a serving size is 120 calories it has like 0% total fat and it has like a full serving of fruits and vegetables!!!!

Just remember that those 120 cals probably come from sugar- so that's about 30 grams of sugar. A can of coke has 36 grams of sugar. Sure- you might be getting some antioxidants and some vitamins, but sugar is sugar, and whether or not it's a can of coke or a v8 fusion or a Vitamin Water (which also has 120 cals and 30 grams of sugar), your body is going to process that sugar the same.
