Eeeek! Loss of Bladder Control during Cardio
This is a tough one for me to post but I'm hoping for feedback from anyone that may be experiencing the same. (Since I've had my 3rd child, I've been wearing a pad everyday just in case of leakage.)
I was doing a rebounding class (mini-trampoline) last night when I lost full bladder control. After the first 5 minutes, I ran to the bathroom and I had soaked the pad. I tried to pee and nothing would come out. So, I made an "oven mit" out of some papertowels, placed it in my undies and went back to the class. Luckily, I was positioned in the back of the room where nobody would notice and my pants were black so you probably wouldn't notice if they were wet anyway. I couldn't go home because I had brought a friend and I REALLY didn't want to embarrass myself.
Yes, I've been doing kegels EVERYDAY and they don't help anymore. It worked with my first and second child but now, kegels aren't helping.
Is anyone taking any special pills for incontinence?
I see my gyno next month and I'll ask about my options. I know bladder surgery is available to me, however, with my child so little (1 year) I really don't want to be out of commission.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

try going to your local physical therapy office and find someone who specializes in Women's Health. they can do biofeedback therapy to help incontinence. My girlfriend specializes in this care and it's amazing what she does for women, especially pregnant or just gave birth.

OP here:
I'll look into the physical therapy locally, Thanks!
I just booked an appt with my gyno and she can't see me for a month. Maybe in the meantime I can use some kind of Serenity pads. Gosh, how embarrassing.

I'm sorry that's happening to you. You're very, very brave to write about it here. I haven't had kids, and I can't really offer any advice. But I just wanted to say that we support you and you don't need to feel embarassed on PT.

My sister hosted a birthday party for her 5 yr old son this summer. It was in one of those indoor inflatable gym/ obstacle course/ enclosed tampoline type places. The kids were having a ball. So, naturally the parents eventually got into the act. At some point 2 of my sisters (age 45 & 52) got into the 'jupiter jump'. When I decided to join them, I didn't notice that they were both huddled in a corner giggling. I took my first bounce toward them and immediately realized why they were giggling. They both had experienced bladder leakage as soon as they jumped. We had never discussed this issue before and really found our common response to be funny. We also used the oven mitt technique. We have given birth to 5 babies between us.

OP - Dr. Northrup, I think is her name - she's written several books for women, she takes a more holistic approach to women's health....she recently advised a woman on Oprah with a similar problem to wear a tampon. She said the tampon will push up against the bladder and help with leakage. Something to try, perhaps.

not trying to be snide to the PP, because I have this problem too. I am wondering how the tampon works.... since it is a completely different hole? Or do you have have to use a super super?

If you think about where all the ins and outs are it might make more sense. The urethra - coming from the bladder - sits right in front of the vaginal canal. If you put in a tampon it will apparently push into the urethra and help stop leakage.

I had to bring this up again because this just happened to me for the second time. I work out at home, thank goodness! It's this one workout with some jumping involved. I just put a big old pad on this time!! I workout in my basement, so I was safe! LOL I have had 3 kids and am 41 yrs old, but I will be asking my gyno about this next time I go!
