I love to workout.

I just read this in a group I'm in and I am envious. I do not like to workout at all. I am dreading every moment of even thinking about getting to the gym. If you love to workout, please tell me why. I'd love to get some inspiration.

I love to work out too

And I NEVER used to have any desire to do it. I was way too lazy and unmotivated. When I first started losing weight on WW, a couple of pounds a week, that got me really hyped up and I gradually gained the motivation to work out because I was happy to be losing weight and wanted to move it along even faster. I started out just putting some fast, peppy songs on my iPod and just walking for 40 minutes or so. Walking didn't feel like too much of a workout. I did that for months and months and after I'd lost a lot of weight, my energy and motivation had increased to the point where I stepped up my workouts to the elliptical and lifting weights.

Don't worry that if you don't like to exercise, you won't lose weight. Diet is 80% of weight loss. You need to work on your eating habits first and then when that starts to pay off for you, you may find that you will actually want to start working out and enjoy doing it.

I like how I feel afterwards

I used to really dread working out because I felt uncomfortable in the gym. I don't feel that way at all anymore, but I do tend to procrastinate or even blow it off altogether sometimes.

Even while I'm there, I find it kind of boring (esp. weightlifting - I bring a book to read between sets).

But once I've actually done it, I'm always really glad I did. I always feel much better -- not just for having accomplished my goal, but just because the exercise really makes you feel a lot better.

Just make yourself go.

I hate working out too...Its boring and it hurts and is all together just uncomfortable. Reading your post made me wonder why I feel this way. There have been times in my life when I enjoyed exercise...every summer in highschool my family would go away, no tv, no phone, no friends for a month. I would ride my bike and exercise on the beach every day all summer and I really enjoyed it. Now in order to exercise I have to set myself out a schedule and find the time and space to do some complex work out tape that I turn off half way through. So basically I've decided to stop trying to workout until I find a time in my life that gives me better exercise options. Instead I just take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator any time I can....its easy enough to commit to, and it burns a buncha calories. To lose weight you need to be active...even fidgeting burns calories...active means moving in general not necessarily putting on spandex pants and running 3 miles.

There is a direct correlation between how I feel about my body in the mirror and how many times I've been to the gym in the last week. When I work out lots, I feel great and I think I look great (or at least "better than before I started peertrainer"). When I haven't worked out in several days, I feel fat and flabby and gross. It's definitely all mental - two or three workouts can't actually produce a visible change in my body. I like feeling that way. I like floating along on runner's high after a good workout.

Don't know if this what you're suffering, but I definitely am totally intimidated by the weights section of my gym. If it's the gym part that's getting to you - lift some cans of soup in your living room or get some aerobic/pilates/whatever DVDs and do them for a while until you feel a little more comfortable moving again (or walk a bunch, like Kate said). Then face the gym with something that you really like - find a great class, or try the eliptical, or something that you enjoy doing and can block out the intimidation factor for. I'm also much, much better at going if I have a workout buddy who is waiting for me to show up 3 or 4 days a week.

Kissmekate has great advise. I think you just need to find something you enjoy. If you're new to it, start slow. If you push yourself too hard early on, it will make you not want to do it anymore. Try some different classes at a gym. Get there early and talk to the instructor about how you're feeling and that you're new. Believe me, this is very beneficial. An instructor can help you do things that you'd never do on your own. I think machines are boring and it is very easy to lose motivation. If you need to, hire a trainer for a few sessions and tell them your concerns and they can help you.

When you start seeing results, that will be the best motivation you can ever have. Whether it's feeling your muscles tightening up, your waistline getting smaller, or your blood pressure getting better. When you start feeling stronger you will want to do more and you will be able to do more. It definitely takes some effort but it's worth it. I love exercising now, but used to hate it. I just had to find what works for me. Good luck to you!

I hate the loneliness

I hate being in a crowd of people and not talking to them... I periodically will chat up the person next to me if they seem approachable, but not everyone wants to talk. If I have someone to chat with, I'm all for it... I can get by with an ipod, but gossip is better. Team sports and runnign groups are more my thing. I've been trying to find a workout buddy, but it has been a tough search.

I love to workout

I have to workout, I miss it, if I do not workout, This is the way I look at it- this is my time, just for me, to do what I feel like doing, walking, runing, going to the gym, etc. I do it for me, no one else, but me. I do a lot of different things, if you hate the gym, don't go, go to the park and walk, or run. Play, just like little kids do, I have been thinking about getting one of the scooter they all ride. Soccer, football, kick ball. Take up dance, karate, hulla hooping, it does not matter what, just find a activity that you like, and do it.
it is that simple.
I personaly love the gym, I belong to a good one, that the people are nice, and fun to be around.

Working out is my time

One reason I like to workout is it gives me time to decompress after a long day and think without any distractions. This is my time to reflect, kind of like meditation, but with a lot more sweat ;-)
I also do it so that I can eat more. I can eat a little more during the day if I know I will work it off later on, and that helps avoid the feeling of deprivation.
I also enjoy walking my dog, and a I feel a bit guilty if I don't walk her once a day. As soon as I put my tennis shoes, she knows she's going for a W-A-L-K.

Not WORKout, PLAYout

Instead of working out, play out! Do what you did as a kid when it was fun to move. Get a puppy and chase her through the park, play ball with friends, skip, it's awesome! Sprint and scream at the same time; purge your frustrations! Catch your breath and go again. Dance! Swim! Pretend you are teaching the aerobic/workout class (even if there is no class, use your imagination like you did as a kid and put your "students through the paces). Play your favorite music loud and MOVE. And if you get very bored very fast like I do set up stations where you do a little this and a little that for five minutes each alternating! Happy Playing Out!

I love working out

I love how I feel after a great workout. I love knowing I've done something that day toward reaching my goals - - and that I won't reach my goals without working out.
Also, as others have said - it's MY time! The other day, as I was working out, I realized that I had gone a good 10-15 minutes WITHOUT thinking about the kids (who were in the daycare room about 50 feet away). It was great to know that I had allowed myself time for my mind to just wander. It's my little escape from life and duties each day.

I LOVE love love working out. Increases the endorphins and can magically turn around my bad mood. I don't know what I would do if I didn't get in my runs. I'm kind of addicted to the runners high.

I used to hate working out because I felt like everyone was watching me. Then I decided that was stupid everyone is there to get into better shape, who knows even the perfect person next to me could have started out like I was. I LOVE working out, it's time for me, I get almost a high and I love the burn of working out. My hubby thinks I sick for this, but if I don't feel the burn I feel like I haven't worked hard. It pumps up my endorphins.
