Small Victories

Well, the holidays are over and it's still a long way to swim suit season for most of us. So what are the little signs of progress that keep you going?

I'll start....

This morning I put on my regular-cut jeans instead of the relaxed-cut ones. Granted, they're still a size larger than I'd like, but, d*mn, it felt good.

My pants are looser, my face is leaner, and I feel incredibly more confident. I've lost 12 and have another 40 to go, but this IS fabulous.
AND, I feel so much happier and goal-directed in life. It sucks living in a body you resent.
Cheers!

* I can walk 20+ minutes at a time now (started with just 10 mins and was out of breath at that).
* "Bad" numbers at the docs office are all coming down.
* Tight bras are all comfy now.
* People are noticing my 32 lb loss, especially in my face.

It might sound silly to someone else ....

I have a appleshape body, my weight is around my upperbody, so I have round, fatty shoulders, now, after losing weight and doing weighttraining, I can feel my shoulder bone and see the shoulder muscle! It feels great!

Now if only Ii can start seeing an ab muscle!!!!

My new personal trainer put 50 pounds on the leg press machine, and I asked if that was just for a warm-up. He asked what I normally press and I told him 115. He looked at me like I was nuts! It was great.

I ran 1.25 miles, in a row, the other day!! In 12.5 minutes! And didn't die! And I was always the kid in gym class who finished the 1-mile run long after every single other person...

This morning my boyfriend said, "Where are all these new clothes I've seen you wearing lately coming from?" I happily answered that they are old ones that I haven't been able to fit in for over 2 years! It feels so great!

Confidence!

I have gained so much of it now! My body fat is down the loswest it ever had been (26%) and i feel great!
I dont think "ugh, now i have to go to the gym" Instead i think of ways to get in extra time in the gym! I used to hate the gym, loathe it even. Now im seeing changes in my body and its great!
I know i will be able to wear shorts in public this summer and its AWESOME!

re: it might sound silly...

I completely agree about the whole shoulder thing. Unfortunately, you'll have to have your body fat ratio closer to where it should be to start "seeing" the muscle. But don't stop working the abs, b/c the work you do now will show as you lose more weight. Good luck.

Yesterday on my BIRTHDAY I went to the gym TWICE. In the past this would be unfathomable- I have NEVER stuck with eating healthily and actually exercising regularly so long in my life (since mid August! 5 months!) Knowing that i was going to splurge, but realizing i could do damage control and hit the gym before my huge lunch and also before my huge dinner/drinks was something i'd never even considered in the past! I've lost about 20 and i have another 15 or so to go, but i have faith in myself for once...

I went out to dinner.

And ate in moderation, had a big, salad with NO dressing, and only half a relatively small dessert. I feel like I'm finally learning how to eat without punishing myself, and it feels AMAZING.
